1975 Avenue & Hotel review – JB hotel that’s inside an actual plane

Yes, you can actually spend the night inside a plane.

If you’re looking for something a little different for your next Johor Bahru getaway, 1975 Avenue & Hotel might just be one of the more unusual stays to check out. Located in Kempas, this newly opened hotel is built around an aviation theme, with the main attraction being two actual Boeing 747 aircraft that have been transformed into hotel suites.

The property currently has 38 rooms in total, including regular hotel rooms and 18 suites housed inside the two aircraft, named Bove and Bey.

Staying in an actual Boeing 747

Cockpit in Captain Suite

The aircraft suites are undoubtedly what makes 1975 Avenue & Hotel stand out from the usual JB staycations.

Rather than simply decorating a room to look like an aeroplane, the hotel has repurposed two Boeing 747s into actual accommodation spaces. The suites come in different themes inspired by destinations around the world, giving each one its own character.

We stayed in the Switzerland-themed Business suite which is a loft-style room, it’s decked out in blue tones and features a beautiful painting of the Swiss mountains in the living area.

Inside, you’ll find modern hotel comforts including king-sized beds, rain showers, bathtubs, smart TV, Wi-Fi and minibar, while still retaining aviation-inspired details from the original aircraft. We love that the windows were actual plane windows.

They have proper rooms too!

If sleeping inside a plane isn’t really your thing, the main hotel block offers a more conventional stay while still carrying the same modern aviation-inspired aesthetic.

Room categories include Premium, Business, Captain and Signature rooms, with some of the larger options offering generous living spaces and balconies. The Premium rooms, for example, are around 486 sq ft, while the Business rooms go up to around 721 sq ft.

And if you’re lucky enough to get one of the rooms facing the aircraft, you can even enjoy an amazing view of the Boeing 747 right from your balcony, definitely not something you get at your usual hotel.

Family-friendly amenities in 1975 Avenue & Hotel

Beyond the aircraft, there’s quite a bit to keep guests occupied within the property.

The hotel has a man-made beach pool complete with sand, alongside recreational facilities designed with families in mind. There’s also a children’s play area and water-play facilities, making this more than just a hotel for those looking to take photos with the planes.

The man-made beach pool was quite interesting, especially with how soft and pleasant the sand was to walk on. This resort-style setup gives the property more of a holiday feel compared to a typical city hotel.

There’s also a gym and a separate sauna in the changing rooms at the rooftop pool, which we enjoyed using during our stay.

Dining Options

Dining is probably one area where expectations should be managed for now.

The hotel offers a mix of local and international dining options, including breakfast, poolside refreshments and evening dining. However, we found the breakfast options to be relatively limited, so we decided to dine outside the hotel instead.

This may change as more of the lifestyle development opens up, but for now, it’s worth keeping in mind if you’re planning to spend your entire stay within the property.

Was the stay worth it?

1975 Avenue & Hotel is definitely not your typical JB hotel.

Its biggest draw is obvious: where else can you spend the night inside a repurposed Boeing 747? The combination of aircraft suites, modern hotel rooms, swimming pools and family-friendly facilities gives it plenty of appeal for both couples and families looking for something different.

For us, the aircraft suite is definitely the highlight and makes the stay feel more like an experience than just another hotel stay. If you’re looking for something unique for your next JB trip, especially if you’re travelling with kids or are simply a fan of aviation, 1975 Avenue & Hotel is certainly worth checking out.
