Regardless of how much I love classics, I crave for a little spice every now and then.

Hambaobao serves Asian-inspired burgers at Jalan Besar.

You might find its name familiar as it is one of the main attractions at Beauty World Food Centre before it ceased operations in 2019. But it came back stronger than ever, with its own 30-seater air-conditioned space.

The Classic Beef Burger ($7.5) had its typical assortment. A nice sear on the patty, a light tang from their homemade tomato sauce, and a melty piece of cheese to tie the elements together.

As I mentioned earlier, as much as I love classics, Hambaobao’s unorthodox burgers won me over.

The Crispy Pork Belly ($8) is packed with thick cuts of pork belly that is graced with consecutive layers of fats and lean meat and most importantly, a thin crackling skin. Its finished with hoisin sauce and Japanese cucumber that adds to its oriental profile.
