Hangar66 Cafe review – Aviator themed cafe in Singapore

Hangar 66 cafe review

If you’re looking for a dining experience that’s a little different from the usual cafe-hopping spots, Hangar66 Cafe might just be worth the journey.

Located in the more secluded Seletar area, Hangar66 is said to be the first and only aircraft hangar cafe in Singapore, and what makes it particularly interesting is that the cafe has a real gyrocopter inside . It also offers diners an exclusive close-up view into an active private aviation hangar, something you definitely won’t get at your typical neighbourhood cafe.

While the location is a little out of the way compared to cafes in town, I actually think that’s part of the appeal. There’s something quite fun about making the trip down specifically for the experience, especially if you’re looking for somewhere that feels more like a destination than just another cafe stop.

One thing to note is that while Hangar66 Cafe itself is open to the general public, the private hangar isn’t open for visitors to freely explore, however, they do offer hangar tours, which are available upon request and require advanced booking. The venue is actually much larger than just the cafe, with several different event spaces for dining, meetings and private events, including the Aircraft Hangar, Spitfire Room, DC3 Board Room, ClubWOA Dining Room, Aviator’s Lounge and even a rooftop garden.

Our favourite spot? The Aviators’ Lounge

If you’re planning a visit, I’d personally recommend checking out the private Aviators’ Lounge upstairs instead of just dining at the cafe.

The lounge offers a clear view of the Seletar Airport runway, so you can actually sit back with a drink and watch the planes go by while dining. It’s surprisingly peaceful up there, especially compared to the usual hustle and bustle of cafes around Singapore.

There was something quite relaxing about simply sipping on a drink, enjoying the food and watching the runway from a distance. If you’re a fan of aviation or just enjoy dining somewhere with a view, this is probably the part of Hangar66 I found most memorable.

There is a $10 per person cover charge, which can be waived with a minimum spend of $40 per person. Families should also take note that children below 12 are only allowed in on weekends from 11am to 5pm.

What’s on the menu?

The menu is largely made up of familiar cafe-style dishes, so don’t expect anything overly experimental or elaborate. The flavours weren’t particularly complex or layered, but everything we tried was decent and enjoyable, and the prices are fairly reasonable for a cafe, especially if you’re ordering a few dishes to share.

The Hangar66 Signature Wings ($9.66) were my personal favourite. The skin was super crispy, giving the wings a really satisfying crunch with every bite. They were simple but well executed, and definitely one of the dishes I’d order again.

The Ultimate Mac & Cheese ($16.66) was another highlight. It was cheesy, creamy and comforting, basically the kind of dish that hits the spot when you’re craving something indulgent without needing it to be overly complicated.

But the biggest surprise for me was actually the Chef’s Homemade Tiramisu ($11.66). I didn’t even realise it was homemade when I first ordered it, so I wasn’t expecting much. But after taking a bite, I was pleasantly surprised by how fresh, soft and light it tasted. It had that lovely homemade quality that made it stand out from the other dishes we tried.

More than just a cafe

While Hangar66 Cafe is open to the general public, the private aircraft hangar itself isn’t open for visitors to freely enter. Instead, Hangar66 is part of a larger private aviation-themed venue at WingsOverAsia with several spaces designed for different types of events and gatherings.

There’s the Spitfire Room, which can work for more intimate gatherings, as well as the DC3 Board Room for meetings and corporate events. The ClubWOA Dining Room offers a more private dining setting, while the Aviators’ Lounge is a particularly unique space thanks to its views of the runway, often used for corporate gatherings, birthday parties and even wedding receptions.

For those looking for an outdoor option, there’s even a rooftop garden, giving the venue another setting for celebrations and events, perfect for small, intimate gatherings, even like barbeque parties. Their Aircraft Hangar is also available for event usage, particularly for large events like brand activations, large corporate D&Ds and car launches.

With all these different spaces under one roof, Hangar66 can accommodate much more than casual dining. Whether it’s a corporate gathering, private dinner, birthday celebration, networking event or any other special occasion, the aviation-themed setting gives it a pretty memorable and unique backdrop.

And honestly, that’s where I think Hangar66 stands out the most. The food is decent and reasonably priced, but the experience and versatility of the venue are what make it worth travelling to Seletar for.

If you’re planning an event and want something a little less conventional than the usual hotel ballroom or restaurant, Hangar66’s combination of aviation, dining spaces, private rooms and even a rooftop garden makes it a rather interesting option to consider.
