How much does luxury perfume costs? Popular fragrances in 2022, such as Sauvage by DIOR, and No.5 by Chanel average at $150 per bottle. Niche perfume brands can even go up to $300. Unless you already have your signature scent, like Cho Gue-Sung with Le Labo Another 13, then you might want to have a few bottles ready at home.

Generally, you’d want at least three scents: an everyday scent, most commonly used for work or school in the day, a night scent for dinner or getting a few drinks, and a special one for special occasions like date night. Not many would want to spend that much on perfumes though, especially if you’re worried about choosing the wrong scent… Instead, opt for a perfume subscription service.

I’VRE, Singapore’s first and only perfume subscription service, offers you the opportunity to sample a wide range of authentic luxury fragrances from $20.

How the fragrance subscription service works?

Customers can opt for the Single Pringle ($19.95), Double Trouble ($34.95), and Perfect Trio ($49.95) subscriptions, which include one, two, and three atomisers respectively.

Next, you can either request a “Surprise Scent”, or pick from over 100 luxury fragrances.

Each perfume is stored in an 8ml atomiser, and is packed in a presentable gift box

First time? Here’s what I’VRE recommends

If you’re getting your first perfume, and you’re unsure of what to get, here’s what the professionals at I’VRE recommend.

Perfumes are categorised into five major scents: fresh, citrus, floral, woody, and spice. You can go with your gut. But if you want a starting point, you can take a perfume personality quiz online, which determines which major scents fit your image the most.

I’VRE recommends the Giorgio Armani Acqua Di Gio for a fresh scent, Burberry London Homme for a musky and woody scent, Dior Sauvage for a citrusy and fruity scent for males.

Meanwhile, for females, the Flower by Kenzo for a floral scent, Dolce & Gabbana Light Blue for a fresh scent, and lastly Victoria Secret Bombshell for a fruity scent.

Scents I love

Personally, I don’t think the gender categorisation on perfumes matter that much. For my subscription, I chose the Burberry London Homme and Burberry London Femme, which are technically designed for men and for women respectively. I love both equally, and I’ve been alternating them as my day-scent. The Homme is woody and spicy, with cinnamon, leather, tobacco and wood as the more prominent notes to me. Meanwhile, jasmine stood out from the Femme, with a syrupy and slightly woody base note.

Burberry London Femme is stored inside the gold case. The name of the perfume is written on the atomiser, which can be revealed if you pulled the top up

In a way, they conformed to societal’s norms of perfumes for men and women. The Homme is woody and spicy, while the Femme is more floral and delicate. But, my point is the gender label on perfumes doesn’t matter.

My “Surprise Me” scent turned out to be Jo Malone English Pear & Freesia, which is fruity and sweet. This is my favourite of the three.

I’m also a big fan of Maison Margiela Replica Lazy Sunday Morning‘s fresh notes, which is what I’ll be choosing next month.

As of now, customers will be receiving a new I’VRE case for their atomisers with every subscription. However, I’VRE will be looking at better options to provide a more sustainable solution in the near future.
