pita and dips at sentosa

Authentic Greek food by the sea? Mykonos On The Bay is an authentic Greek restaurant with a sea view at Quayside Isle, Sentosa.

Greek appetisers to start the meal

Get started with their homemade Toasted Pita Bread Basket ($5). It’s simple, comforting, and great for sharing.

To spice it up, we had the Mykonos Dip Platter ($29), which came with tzatziki, taramosalata, and memelitzanosalata. We’re more familiar with tzatziki, a refreshing yogurt dip with grated cucumbers. Meanwhile taramosalata and melitzanosalata are dips made from cured roe and eggplants respectively.

For something refreshing on a hot day, the Watermelon Salad with Feta ($21). As simple as it sounds — watermelon topped with arugula, aged balsamic vinegar, feta and mint sorbet — it was delicious. There were different types of tang mixed with fruity and vegetal notes.

The juiciest lamb skewers

Moving on to the heavier-tasting dishes, the Giaourtlou ($35) features Mykonos On The Bay’s in-house blend of minced lamb on skewers, served with tomato sauce, greek yogurt, pita and salad on the side.

Be prepared for a burst of juices and flavours when you bite into the minced lamb. Perfectly seasoned, potent with spices, and lightly gamey, this was no doubt the best lamb skewer in Singapore.

For mellower flavours, the lamb shank shines through with its tender, flaky meat. Stifado ($39) is a slow-braised lamb shank in tomato sauce, served with caramelised shallots and potato puree.

Authentic Greek desserts

A popular Greek dessert, which was further propagated to fame on TikTok, the Baklava ($17) is a croissant-like pastry that is made with Phyllo — very thin unleavened dough that is layered together to create a flaky and crispy texture.

Baklava is traditionally prepared in layers, almost like a lasagne, but Mykonos On The Bay rolls the phyllo with crushed pistachio in the middle. It’s baked in honey syrup, giving it a light and nutty flavour, and served with fior di latte ice-cream on the side. Fior di latte is a type of soft cheese that’s similar to Mozzarella, and it tastes mild and slightly cheesy. Think cottage cheese with a touch of condensed milk.
