When it comes to visiting Hoi An, Vietnam, most travellers tend to plan only a single day to explore the charming ancient city. Often, Hoi An is simply viewed as a day trip destination for those visiting Danang, which is 40 minutes away. However, there’s a world-class resort nestled in Hoi An that will completely transformed the way people experience this beautiful region.

Introducing New World Hoiana Beach Resort — a luxurious paradise where visitors can indulge in all the amenities one could possibly dream of, including spa treatments, watersports, and even a casino and a golf course. From its stunning coastal views to its world-class amenities, New World Hoiana Beach Resort is an idyllic retreat for those seeking a memorable vacation. An upscale resort that offers a perfect blend of luxury, adventure, and relaxation, here is everything we experienced here.

Breakfast in bed

While it’s customary to embark on adventures on a trip, it’s perfectly acceptable to luxuriate in the exquisitely furnished rooms adorned in hues of emerald, gold, and ivory reminiscent of the grandeur of Oz.

This room is under New World Hoiana Beach Resort

Our room, the Grand Deluxe Ocean View King, is furnished with a king-sized bed that faces the television. Positioned to the right, a tastefully crafted dining table, complemented by a plush coffee table and sofa, offers guests the opportunity to indulge in a sumptuous meal whilst gazing out at the panoramic ocean vista. For the ultimate experience, a private balcony provides a serene sanctuary to fully immerse oneself in the breathtaking beauty of the surroundings.

But, no sea view can beat the toilet. A couple sink, a bathtub, a rain shower… What else do you need?

However, to ensure a truly immersive experience in the room, you have to indulge in the epitome of indulgence by savouring a sumptuous breakfast in bed.

The breakfast menu includes Vietnamese, Chinese, American, and Continental. I ordered the American — two eggs any style, assorted pastries, cereal or yogurt, and a choice between coffee or tea.

You might be in Vietnam, but Hoiana Golf & Resort is where you would choose a croissant over a Banh Mi. Perfectly flakey and airy, let’s just say that my friends and I ate at least two croissants per breakfast.

One of the best breakfast buffets

The dishes from the room service menu can also be found in Blend, Hoiana Golf & Resort’s all-day dining restaurant. The restaurant is tastefully designed to emulate the ambiance of the Silk Road era, characterised by the vibrant and multi-hued streets where merchants would display their wares, including stacks of silk and fabric, and an assortment of spices. Not only is it gorgeous, Blend is hands down the best breakfast buffet I have had. Bonus points, it’s only about $25.

The pastries, as mentioned earlier, were done to perfection. But the other dishes were strong contenders, such as the freshly-made dumplings that were cooked to order in a rich beef soup. Even the sausages were of premium quality.

A wide variety of dining options

Chinese fine dining, Korean barbecue, handcrafted cocktails… you name it. Hoiana Golf & Resorts houses more than ten restaurants, and they have 20 more that will be opening in phases.

We highly recommend Obaltan for an authentic Korean barbecue with one of the freshest seafood — the scallops literally tasted like the sea. Meanwhile, The Edge provides an unparalleled view of the ocean, with a cocktail in hand, and tapas and pastries to share.

Casino & golf

Don’t worry, there is so much more to the resort than food. Head down to one of the few casinos in the central region.

The casino at Hoiana Resort & Golf boasts over 300 slot machines and electronic table games, and more than 140 live table games. Guests can gamble in USD or HKD, making it a convenient option for international travellers.

To enter, you’ll first have to register at the counter beside the casino. After validating your passport and personal details, the staff will present you with a Hoiana membership card. Not only does it provide access to the casino, but card holders are entitled to at least 10% at dining, hotel, golf and retail shops within the resort. All guests can sign up for the Essential and Prestige card. Meanwhile, the Elite card requires 3,888 Premier Points in 12 months, while the Infinite card is by invite only.

Hoiana Shores Golf Club is an 18-hole coastal links land course that provides a challenging experience for golf enthusiasts. Designed by the renowned Robert Trent Jones Jr., the course features dramatic sand dunes, multiple playing options, windy playing conditions, and some quirky bounces from fast fairway surfaces.

The golf academy at Hoiana Resort & Golf, helmed by seasoned PGA professional Kelly Nguyen, offers coaching programs tailored to individual needs at all levels. Whether you’re an accomplished golfer wanting to perfect your skills or just starting out, the academy features an indoor and outdoor driving range, 26 hitting bays, and an excellent practice bunker, pitching area, and putting green.

Water sports

The resort’s location on the coast provides the perfect backdrop for a day of fun in the sun. Head down to the beach that’s right beside the resort. The resort offers water sports such as kayaking and stand-up paddle in the sea.

Alternatively, take it easy and relax by the pool with a cocktail from Cove Bar & Grill, located on the ground floor of the resort.

The entrance to the beach is located right behind Cove Bar & Grill.

While the amenities at Hoiana Resort & Golf were more than enough to keep us occupied for three days, there are some other attractions in Hoi An that you should make time for.

Hoi An Ancient Town is definitely one of them. The UNESCO World Heritage Site is a perfect blend of Chinese, Japanese, and Vietnamese cultures. The streets are lined with charming yellow buildings, ornate temples, and historic houses that have been well-preserved over the centuries. Not only is it a great photo spot, visitors can also enjoy a good cup of coffee at Hoi An Roastery, or get an adrenaline pump by spinning around in a bamboo boat.
