Are you frantically trying to find an interesting and unique activity for the upcoming Valentine’s Day celebration? Time is ticking, and you’ve probably exhausted all your options around Singapore?

This might not be the most mainstream thing to do as compared to a romantic stroll along scenic beaches or Gardens by the Bay, but if your lady enjoys attending artistic workshops or has a interest in beauty products, Jetaime Perfume Workshop @ Goodman Arts Centre can be a great date idea!

Unless you have booked for a private session, expect to attend the workshop with other guests as well! Unless you’re fortunate enough to be the only ones that day (just like us)!

Before we started on the technicalities of the perfumes and essential oil, we had to answer a personality quiz of 20 questions. The trainer added an extra dose of fun by asking us to predict each other’s answers before swapping over to check the number of correct guesses.

She also gave us some basic insights about how individuals with different personalities and age have a different preference towards scents. Based on our results, she analysed our possible preferences and character, and we just kept nodding away because it was so specific and accurate! However, please take this with a pinch of salt, as it may not be true for everyone else!

We multiplied our answers in proportion to get the number of drops per sample to create a sample perfume. In other words, from the results below, I have to put 6 drops of citrus type of essential oil, 12 drops of ‘fresh’, 18 drops of ‘floral’ and so on.

We were given a task to smell every single essential oil from the rack and choose the ones we like (tick once) and love (double tick). From there, we can choose the number of drops from each of our favourite essential oils and add it up to the amount based on our quiz results. I love that despite it being fixed to our results, we still had some customisable aspects. (And this is only for sample 1!)

It was honestly a dilemma for some of the scents as we had to take a few whiffs or even more to confirm if the scent was pleasant to our liking. Our first sample was complete and we actually like it!

For the 2nd sample, you are allowed to freestyle based on your own preferences. From there, you can proceed to create the 75ml perfume with your preferred sample.

The customisable aspect of this workshop is very interesting, especially for people who enjoy DIY projects.

However, at the end of the day, you may or may not fancy your customised perfume as the base note of the perfume will only be revealed after a few hours. Whatever you’re smelling based on first impression are the top notes, which may not be fully accurate.

If you’re not so adventurous, it would be safer to stick to safer scents, and perhaps do not focus too much on the ‘woody’ and ‘oriental’ scents which are usually more overpowering.

Nevertheless, this was a very unique and fun experience, and are perfect for occasions like hens party, anniversaries, corporate workshops and team bonding sessions! Valentine’s Day is coming soon! Don’t wait till the last minute to do your planning!

Each session is 2 hours and costs $125 per pax. You can bring home 2 samples (10ml each) and 1 full-sized perfume (75ml).

Book a week in advance to get free name engraving on your perfume bottles!
