Choosing from Zoey’s Diner array of burgers was brain-racking. Should I get the classic cheeseburger or their Japanese-inspired Curry & Potato Croquette? In the end, I went for something my ancestor would be proud of- the pao burgers.

Keep in mind that these weren’t eaten fresh, since they were delivered, so I won’t be dwelling too much on the texture.

Fusion Food

The Pepper Braised Beef (S$10.9) is not for the weak. It wasn’t as spicy as I preluded it to be. But it was spicier than what you’d expect a pepper-marinate to be. It had a sharp initial kick, followed by a slow lingering burn.

Meanwhile, the Buttermilk Fried Chicken (S$8.9) is as straightforward as it gets. A thick juicy cut of chicken thigh that surprisingly, retained a passable amount of crispiness, smeared with a spicy chipotle mayo that could’ve been spicier, and a tangy cabbage slaw.

But, while their burgers were impressive, I was eventually won over by the Mushroom & Truffle Cream Pasta (S$9.9). The truffle wasn’t very intense but it was at least detectable, and the pasta was so creamy. Bonus points for the huge portion though.

The Truffle Fries (S$7.9) were soggy, which Zoey’s Diner promised to look into improving their takeaway boxes. But I would say it’s good money paid as it comes with two small tubs of an aromatic truffle mayo which I added to everything else but the pasta. In fact, it was so strong that I could smell it before I even took the food out of the plastic bag.

Drinks from

For the drinks, we got the Peach Rose Nectar, Secret Apple Milk-Top Tea and Passionfruit Tea. They were all not too sweet and had a rather natural flavor, especially the Passionfruit Tea which had a strong earthy aroma.

At an average price of S$8.5 per main, I thought that the food at Zoey’s Diner exceeded my expectations. Bear in mind that I opted for food delivery so the quality was already lower than it should be. So imagine how much better it’ll be if I actually went down to their restaurant.
