Bang Sue, Rot Fai… but what if you don’t want to thrift for clothes, but for books instead?
Bang Sue Junction Shopping Centre and Rot Fai Train Market are the most popular vintage secondhand apparel thrift shops in Bangkok. But for those who are more interesting in thrifting for secondhand books instead, here’s what we recommend.
From out-of-print vintage classics to affordable modern novels, here are our favourite secondhand book stores in Bangkok that we recommend.
1. Dasa Book Cafe

Dasa Book Cafe has it all — Collins Classics, young adults fiction, romance, mystery and crime, history, arts and design, and more. With three storeys worth of shelves, you can easily spend up to three hours here digging for
Our best buys were a handful of classics at jus 70-100 baht ($3-4), and an out-of-print Horror and Science Fiction Films by Donald C. Willis for just 180 baht ($6).
If you already have titles in mind, you can check their online database before heading down, and possibly request to reserve it.
Location: 714/4 Sukhumvit Rd, Khlong Tan, Khlong Toei, Bangkok 10110, Thailand
Opening hours: 10am-8pm
2. Key Book Store

This second hand book store in Bangkok really isn’t for everyone. Key Book Store is fully Japanese — from the books to even the staff.
As someone who doesn’t understand Japanese, I still came down here to see if I could get any coffee table books or collectible manga; they have sets of your favourite series at a discounted price, including One Piece, Naruto, Jujutsu Kaisen and Attack on Titan. Every book is also really clean and new, which is uncanny for a second hand book store.
Head down to the second floor to browse their “50 baht discount” section.
Location: 595/7 Soi Sukhumvit 33/1, Khlong Tan Nuea, Watthana, Bangkok 10110, Thailand
Opening hours: 9am-9pm
3. Book Lover Books
Aptly name, Book Lover Books houses a large selection of pre-loved books of different language. It’s got great reviews for its selection and how clean most of the books are. But personally, I loved its centralised location.
For the hardcore thrifters, this is on the way to Bang Sue Junction Shopping Centre if you’re heading off from Bangkok’s city centre.
Location: 59 Ram Buttri Aly, Chana Songkhram, Phra Nakhon, Bangkok 10200, Thailand
Opening hours:
Monday: 12-6pm
Tue-Sun: 12-9:30pm
