Did you know that cafe acai bowls can get really expensive in Singapore?
A basic bowl already sits around $15–20, and once you start adding extra toppings, it adds up fast. I still enjoy buying them occasionally, but at some point I started thinking… there has to be a more affordable way to enjoy this regularly without always relying on cafes.
That’s when I started making my own at home.
Recently, I discovered Smoof Acai, and it honestly made the whole process so much easier than I expected. (Promo code at the end of this post)
Not all frozen acai are the same
One thing I didn’t realise before was that not all frozen acai products are made equally. Some are heavily diluted with water, sugar or fillers, so while they look purple and aesthetic, they don’t really have that rich berry flavour or nutritional value you expect.
What I liked about Smoof is that their acai is made using premium organic acai pulp from Brazil and flash-frozen to preserve the nutrients naturally found in acai, such as antioxidants, fibre, calcium, and heart-healthy omega fats.
Everything is also plant-based, gluten-free, lactose-free, and non-GMO, which makes it pretty easy for different dietary preferences.

Which type should I get?
Smoof currently has two main options depending on how you like your acai.
Acai Sorbet
This is the easiest option if you want something quick and convenient. No blender needed at all.
Their Acai Sorbet is made using organic acai pulp and comes ready to eat straight from the tub. You can literally let it soften slightly for a few minutes, scoop it into a bowl, add your toppings, and you’re done.
It honestly feels like a healthier replacement for ice cream.
They also have a few versions depending on your preference:
- Acai Sorbet PURE for the classic rich berry flavour
- Acai Sorbet ZERO if you want a no-sugar-added, keto-friendly option
Organic Acai Pulp
If you enjoy making smoothies or blending your own bowls, their Organic Acai Pulp is probably the better option.
It comes in:
- Pure Unsweetened
- Sweetened with Guarana
The unsweetened version contains zero sugar, making it suitable for keto or diabetic-friendly diets, while the guarana version has a slightly sweeter flavour with low fat and calories.

What I appreciate is that there are no preservatives or artificial ingredients added.
I’ve personally been using the ready packs for smoothies too. Just blend it with frozen bananas, strawberries, oat milk or even just water, and you’ve got a super refreshing drink for hot afternoons.

The 5L Carton Is Actually Worth It
If you eat acai often, the 5L carton is honestly the most worth-it option.
Considering how much cafe bowls cost these days, getting the 5L carton at $47.95 (U.P. $60) can save quite a lot in the long run, especially if your household loves smoothies or homemade acai bowls.
It’s also great if you regularly host brunches or just want to keep healthier dessert options at home.

My lazy homemade acai bowl routine
One thing I love is how little effort it actually takes.
I usually take the acai out for a few minutes just to soften slightly, scoop however much I want into a bowl, then throw on whatever toppings I have at home — bananas, strawberries, blueberries, granola, sunflower seeds, pumpkin seeds, chia seeds, sometimes peanut butter if I’m feeling extra hungry.
If you’ve been wanting to eat more acai without constantly paying cafe prices, making your own at home is probably the easiest solution.
