What if I told you you can start smelling like your favourite gin?

Tanqueray Gin has collaborated with perfumery Oo La Lab to concoct seven types of Tanqueray-inspired scents, and they are available at the Tanqueray Terrace Pop-up at CHIJMES.

DIY your own perfume with Oo La Lab

The seven limited-time refreshing scents are all inspired by the tasting notes of Tanqueray Gin, which is refreshing, zesty and fruity. Without a doubt, Juniper, one of the distinct flavours of Tanqueray gin, is part of the ensemble. It’s fresh and crisp, with a touch of sweetness in the background. Meanwhile, the other scents include Cucumber, Grapefruit, Sweet Florida Orange, Aromatic, Zesty Mexican Lime, and the signature Tanqueray No. 10, modelled after the Tanqueray No.10.

You can, of course, just opt for one of the Tanqueray-inspired scents and be done with the workshop. But, most of them are top notes, which means that they might not last as long. Hence, the perfumers from Oo La Lab recommends adding in a middle and base note from their permanent scents.

The perfumers were very welcoming and happy to give advice so there is no need to worry if this is your first time experimenting with different scents.

Oo La Lab’s usual Mixology Session starts from $98. But now, you can get a taste of their perfume-making workshop for just $30, which also includes a gin and tonic.

If you want more personalised advice, you can pre-register here (closed) for their hour-long session. I tried their $30 bundle. There was no time limit, and I took about 10 minutes to decide. But I felt like I had plenty of time to experiment with the different combinations, and I managed to design one that I really liked. It is a mix of cucumber, rose and wood, which has a grassy and sweet scent, with just a bit of weight to it. Essentially, it smelled like an enchanted forest.

This limited edition Tanqueray-inspired scents are only available at the Tanqueray Terrace pop-up at CHIJMES from now till 9 April so be sure to check it out!

One of the best date ideas in April

Even if you’re not a huge fan of perfumes, this is a great date spot for couples. The set-up is Instagrammable, the cocktails are refreshing, and the bites are satisfying.

As mentioned earlier, the Tanqueray X Oo La Lab Bundles start from $30, which entitles you to one cocktail, and a 10ml personalised fragrance from Oo La Lab.

But if you do not want the fragrance, you can get the cocktails a la carte. To fully appreciate the botanical notes of Tanqueray, we recommend the Tanqueray N° Ten & Tonic ($14) — a classic gin and tonic. Meanwhile, to accentuate some of their citrus notes, the Tanqueray Ten’O Clock ($18) leans towards the sweeter flavours of orange, while the Tanqueray TenGO ($18) plays on the astringent, zesty fragrances of yuzu and lime.

Pair these refreshing drinks with a spicy, flavourful Kra Pow Pie Tee ($16). The Peranakan dish takes on a Thai spin with basil stir-fried mince pork and bird’s eye chilli.

While you’re there, you can also get a holographic photo and a luggage tag with every purchase of a Ten & Tonic.
