Love ToMo Cafe’s chuffles? Here’s a more convenient way to get it for the North-ies.
ToMo Cafe has just opened their third outlet at Upper Thomson with 11 new outlet-exclusive dishes.
Our honest review of ToMo Cafe Upper Thomson
Despite being crazy popular when they first opened in Joo Chiat and Neil Road, this is the first time we’ve tried ToMo Cafe. We think that the food there is pretty good, albeit on the saltier side, but was priced reasonably. In addition to their signature Chuffles, I’d say their next highlight would be their aesthetic drinks.

Instagrammable drinks at ToMo Cafe
“Cloud” drinks are the new hype in Singapore’s cafe scene, and ToMo Cafe doesn’t fail to disappoint.

They’re famous for their matcha and hojicha cloud series, such as the Iced Matcha Strawberry Cloud Latte ($8) and Iced Houjicha Goma Cloud Latte ($8). But, if you’re at the Upper Thomson outlet, you have to try their outlet-exclusive drinks like the Lychee Rosey Blossom ($8) and Bisukofu Brew Cloud ($8).
The Bisukofu Brew Cloud ($8) features a good blend of a punchy espresso base topped with a sweet and earthy biscoff cream. Not too sweet, not too rich, surprisingly good.

In a similar vein, their Iced Matcha Strawberry Cloud Latte ($8) was also not too sweet despite the addition of a pink strawberry cream. Personally, not a fan of the cream, but the grassy flavours of the matcha could still shine through even with all the additional flavours.
ToMo Cafe’s signature Chuffles
The combination of two desserts is nothing new. We’ve got cruffins, mochi waffles, and what ToMo Cafe has done is to combine churros with waffles.
It’s essentially just a churros in the shape of a waffle. It’s crispy, you get that hint of savoury note from the oil that’s quickly replaced by the dusting of sugar around it.

You can enjoy the Chuffles as a full meal — the Chuffle Breakie ($19) and Fried Chicken Chuffles ($19)— with a scoop of ice cream ($9), or by itself ($6).
Food at ToMo Cafe

The Pastrami Don ($21) comes with a generous portion of pastrami and topped with a sous vide egg. I loved the pastrami by itself. It’s perfectly tender and evenly brined. But, I felt like the addition of togarashi, a Japanese seven-spiced powder, made it a little too flavourful. Overall still a great dish though.
ToMo Cafe has limited portions of all Pastrami dishes daily.
Meanwhile, for burgers, don’t settle for less.

Opt for their meatiest, juiciest ToMo’s Premium Hamburg ($30) that’s topped with truffle mayo, scrambled egg, caramelised onions, onion rings and nacho cheese. This was a burger that, even though sounds crazy, did not taste like there was too much going on. Every element kinda fit in which one another nicely, and the truffle mayo tied it all together.
Shoutout to the brioche burger buns which were so soft and buttery.
