[REVIEW] 9.81 Park – Go-karting in Jeju Island

9.81 Park - go karting from driver's point of view

Named after the acceleration of gravity, 9.81 Park is a go-karting themed park in Jeju Island, South Korea.

Unlike conventional go-karts, the ones at 9.81 Park are equipped with automatic acceleration. There is only one pedal- the brake- to control the speed of the kart.

Travelling at 50km/h on Course X

The park has four different tracks. Course 1 and 2 are the standard tracks, with a maximum speed of 30km/h. Course 3 is a beginner course, with gentler curves. Lastly, Course X, their master course, goes up to 50km/h.

Riders can purchase tickets for individual tracks but we recommend their 3-race bundle package (₩41,500), which saves ₩16,500.

Riders will have to go through Course 1 and Course 2 first. If they manage to reach the max speed limit of 30km/h, they will be allowed to attempt Course X. Otherwise, riders can repeat Course 2 as their third race.

Using an automated driver’s system, the cart automatically drives you back to the starting point after you’ve completed the track.

Pro tip: never hit the brakes if you plan to hit the max speed. Don’t worry about crashing. The go-karts are designed with wheels on the sides which allows the kart to slide ride off the curb, reducing the impact of collision. Furthermore, the each track is designated for one driver at a time only, to reduce chances of colliding to each other.

The technological-savvy park also requires riders to download their app that is available on Google Play and App Store. The app tracks your speed and time for each course. It also synchronises with the kart’s GoPro, allowing you to replay and download videos.

Laser tag, arcade games and bumper cars

On top of go-karting, 9.81 Park has an array of indoor games such as laser tag, arcade games and bumper cars.

The arcade games mainly comprises of sports games, including soccer, shooting and skiing. They even managed to elevate the classic basketball arcade game by segmenting it into seven levels, each with its own challenge, such as scoring seven times in a row, or scoring according to a rhythm.

Do note that laser tag only starts when they have a minimum of nine pax.

9.81 Park’s peak hours are 2-4pm. To avoid queues at other attractions, we recommend visiting the park in the morning and to end the day with laser tag to avoid a long waiting time.
