Arab Street and Haji Lane just got a lot more crowded this week.
From 13 to 23 September 2023, Kampong Gelam has organised a series of exciting carnival games, racing simulators, scream booths, and markets to gear up for the upcoming Grand Prix Season Singapore.
What’s on at Kampong Glam this weekend?
With three separate pop-ups around Kampong Glam — each with its own activities — you might be frazzled with navigating. Hence, we’ve
The event is split into the following three locations:
- Aliwal Carpark — Game Village
- Opposite 60 Kandahar St — racing simulator, scream booth, food
- Sultan Gate — Main food area
Earn points and win prizes through 11 fun carnival games
Head down to Aliwal Arts Centre Carpark, where the Game Village is located.

Here, you’ll find 11 fun carnival games, such as ring toss, mini golf, reaction challenge, shooting games, and more. The best part about Kampong Glam’s carnival is its somewhat-of-a sure-win factor.
Each game has a point system, which the staff will award based on your performance. Collect the points, and head to the redemption booth to collect your choice of prize.
Everyone is entitled to the smallest prize, and it’s fairly easy to win a medium prize, which allows you to claim a palm-size plushie keychain, or a 200+ piece 3D puzzle.

Here’s the prize tiers at the Game Village:
- Super — 100 points and above
- High — 70-99 points
- Medium — 40-69 points
- Low — 39 points and below
To play, you’ll have to first purchase a Game Passport at the entrance for $20, which entitles you to one try at each game station.
Racing simulator and scream booth
Located at Kandahar Street, this area comprises the racing simulator and a sure-win scream booth.

The racing simulator costs $10 for five minutes. Meanwhile, if you can redeem a chance to at the scream booth as long as you have a same-day receipt from any partnering stores in Kampong Glam.
Psst… we recommend cafe hopping in the area!
Food vendors
Fuel up (pun intended) at the main dining area at Sultan Gate.
Our top pick features smashburgers from The Smashed Burg, which was so simple but comforting. It was buttery, crusty and cheesy, and the buns were toasted perfectly. But, popular choices included a Tarik Croissant, which was a croissant that comes in a tub of your choice of sauce, as well as birria tacos from Killaz.
