Luminyoyo is an online bakery opened by a group of friends with the same goal to create “moments of sweetness shared with friends and family”. They specialize in Dacquoise, a traditional French patisserie with a slight tweak in flavours, incorporating Japanese and Korean inspirations only possible with their diverse culinary background.
What are Dacquoise?

These cream puff-looking beauties are Dacquoise. The ‘shell’ is composed of whipped egg whites and almond and hazelnut flour, which is then slowly baked in an oven to dehydrate. By itself, it’s buttery, crispy and airy. But once it is paired with buttercream or ganache, it turns into a moist, fluffy cake-like bite. Luminyoyo’s dacquoise is fused with Japanese and Korean flavours that are crafted by their pastry chefs that graduated from Le Cordon Bleu London.

We ordered the Tasting Box of 6 (S$36) which includes the following flavours:
- Earl grey and orange peel
- Passionfruit, mango and cream cheese
- Matcha, cream cheese and macadamia
- Redcurrant, strawberry and raspberry
- Caffe Mocha and pistachio
- Hazelnut chocolate and matcha
You can also opt for their Box of 5 (S$30) and Box of 4 (S$24). Essentially, this means that regardless of how many dacquoise you get, it’s fixed at S$6 for one.

In general, the flavours were complex but delicate and harmoniously blended. In this case, not every element gets an equal opportunity to shine. Instead, some elements played a complementary role. For example, the Passionfruit, mango and cream cheese features a nice balance of tartness and sweetness. The richness of the cream cheese is barely noticeable but the small dollops round off the vibrance of the tropical fruits. Similarly, the Matcha, cream cheese and macadamia displayed a prominent nuttiness from the macadamia while the earthiness and bittersweet flavour of the matcha crept in as the aftertaste.
Every single flavour was great but if I had to choose a favourite, it was the Caffe Mocha and Pistachio with a robust espresso flavour that was accentuated by the nuttiness of the pistachio.
