The stage is set for Singapore’s anticipated cultural extravaganza as the Singapore International Festival of Arts (SIFA) unveils its lineup for 2024. Curated by Festival Director Natalie Hennedige, this year’s theme, The Anatomy of Performance – They Declare, celebrates the myriad voices and perspectives shaping our world today.

From 17 May to 2 June 2024, SIFA promises a captivating array of performances, including five newly commissioned productions and seven international presentations. Collaborations between Singaporean and international artists will explore themes ranging from post-Anthropocene futures to the intersection of artificial intelligence and humanness.

Among the highlights of the Singaporean commissions is Suara / Oro Rua, a visionary production blending original compositions, diverse musical practices, and New Zealand dance artists to imagine a post-Anthropocene future. Other than that there will be other creative commissions such as Wilful Machine, The Prose and The Passion, and Refuge.

International artworks at SIFA 2024 include the acclaimed experiential opera Sun & Sea, making its Southeast Asian debut, where lounging performers sing about mundane existence against the backdrop of Earth’s decline. SIFA also presents Moby Dick, a 90-minute captivating live adaptation of Herman Melville’s work, employing filmic techniques and puppetry. Anticipate our local artists’ works such as Tomorrow and Tomorrow showcasing new works by Singapore’s theatre groups, and digital projects like FL(U)ORESCENCE and URL TO IRL: SIFA Digital by producer Hong Xinyi.

A new family-friendly programs launched by SIFA 2024

Additionally, SIFA introduces Little SIFA, a special series of family-friendly programs designed to engage young audiences in the world of performing arts from 24-26 May 2024. Bringing The Dancer’s Fair at Cathay Green and Leonardo! A Wonderful Show About A Terrible Monster at SOTA Drama Theatre, where children and families will be transported into imaginative worlds of creativity and wonder.

Tickets admission for each programme varies starting from $20 per person and available to purchase in SIFA 2024 website followed by the programme’s schedule and location.
