If I had to pick my favourite aspect of Christmas, it’s eating. It’s not just about the food though. Rather, the people that you sit with, the stories that you share and the laughter that fills the room. Nothing beats buffets when it comes to a hearty Christmas feast.
Seafood, sushi, turkey, charcuterie, dessert… Sofitel Sentosa has it all in their holiday buffet spread at Kwee Zeen.
The most lavish brunch you’ll ever witness

Sofitel has prepared an impressive line up that includes the freshest seafood, pan-seared foie gras and caviar; a stark contrast from your typical brunch buffets.
Three types of Caviar are gracefully spooned onto blinis– a buttery Russian pancake- alongside chives, sour cream and red onion.

It’s located at the charcuterie counter, which houses 12 types of cheese and seven types of cured meat. I loved pairing monbier with honey comb for a striking contrast of savoury and sweet. The combination of prosciutto di parma with brie de meux was delightful as well.
This was how I started the meal, but I’m aware of the Singaporean urge to start their buffets with seafood. Sofitel’s spread comprises of three types of freshly-shucked oysters, lobsters, mussels, fresh prawns and more. The crab legs were my favourite- thick, chunky and literally tasted like the ocean.
Once you’re done with the appetisers, head down to their live station. The star is none other than the Traditional Turkey, roasted with chestnut bread stuffing and served with giblet or cranberry sauce. A Christmas staple that should not be missed!
We highly recommend their Crispy Pork Knuckle. It’s bestowed with a light airy crunch that envelops layers of tender meat and collagen.

Head outside for an assortment of dim sum, Chinese wok, Indian delicacies and a live noodle station.
We recommend the Sweet & Sour Pork. Albeit not as crispy as it could be, it was imparted with an oily, decadent fragrance.
Other options include Butter Chicken, Naan, Stir-fried Slice Fish, Hong Kong Roast Meat and Laksa.
Desserts
Sofitel’s dessert table was strewn with macarons, chocolate bars and pastries. On the right laid shelves of cakes, including traditional log cakes and Christmas fruit cakes. I could barely contain my excitement, and the lack of self-control got me sweeping the dessert bar like a typhoon.
They were all delectable. But if I was forced to choose one, I would decimate an entire Pecan Pie.
