Located along Nanson Road, Studio M is a popular staycation choice among young adults, especially couples.

On top of first-rate hotel facilities and resin-making classes, Studio M’s signature loft room concept provides Instagrammable backdrops.

The four types of rooms available are Studio Loft, Premier Loft, Executive Loft and Moonlight Loft.

Premier Loft Room (22 m²/237 ft²)

While working out during a vacation may be frowned upon, the aesthetics of Studio M’s Premier Loft compensates for the extra stairs-climbing.

L-shaped window that streams in natural sunlight, high ceiling, minimalistic furniture and a floating staircase to finish the look.

The work area is at the lower level of the room, while the bedroom is on the loft. In addition to the extra floor, the unique layout of the room creates a more spacious environment. There is even an extra monitor in addition to the television at the loft area, so that you can enjoy movies on both levels. How thoughtful!

In comparison, the Studio Loft is similar, with the bed on the first level instead.

My favourite aspect of the loft room is the large window panels, where you can wake up to a beautiful city view.

The kitchen includes basic amenities such as a fridge, coffee maker, cutleries and mineral water. I liked how the basin was there so the bathroom wasn’t as cluttered. Besides, it is more convenient if you need to wash your hands while the toilet is occupied.

Although the design of the bathroom lacked fancy amenities, it was clean. I place quite a high priority on hotel bathrooms in terms of user-friendliness and cleanliness, so there was nothing to complain about.

Lastly, the room comes with complimentary WIFI which is user-friendly and fast for streaming videos.

Hotel facilities | Outdoor pool and gym

The ambience at the common area in the second floor is a great refuge for a relaxing afternoon.

We bought lunch from nearby eateries to enjoy at the poolside area, which city views gave a false illusion of an infinity pool!

The gym area had a modest number of gymming equipment that were up-to-date. We recommend a lap on their treadmill which comes with interesting modes such as Germany Run, North Island New Zealand Run, Life Fitness Fit Test and more. Essentially, the screen in the treadmill plays a video according to your desired mode.

I’d prefer an air-conditioned gym. However, perhaps an open-air gym is more appropriate in this climate.

Advance booking is required for both the gym and pool at the front desk counter during your check-in. During our visit, both facilities were quite empty, which allowed us to enjoy the space privately.

Ala-carte Breakfast at Memo Cafe

Memo Cafe offered three styles of breakfast: American, Local Favourite and Healthier Option, with your preferred choice of beverage.

Overall, the breakfast was quite delicious and the service was great!

Resin Play – Designing our own unique resin coaster

Staycations are definitely more interesting with DIY activities. For the Resin Play package, each couple can design their one-and-only resin coaster with their preferred colours. The whole experience was guided by a staff and the steps were really simple to follow.

We had to pump the resin liquid in 2:1 portions into our disposable cups and add the paint accordingly. Then, we poured the mixture on the coaster and used a satay stick to spread the colours to achieve an ombre effect. The final touch was to add a hint of gold to allow the colours to pop.

I love how every coaster is unique since no one can ever create the same design, which makes the item even more meaningful.

Carpark and Nearby Facilities

Studio M has a private carpark with limited space. During peak periods, you can also park at the Quayside Condo which is located opposite the hotel (with free motorcycle parking) or along the streets (URA parking).

There are several restaurants along the hotel; popular choices including The Book Cafe, Common Man Coffee Roasters, Kith Cafe, etc. A 7-Eleven store is also within walking distance for necessities or snacks.

Overall, I had a really pleasant stay at Studio M. This millennial-oriented hotel is probably more suitable for young couples or even a solo traveller if you are looking for a relaxing place to unwind for a day or two.
