Malory Hobson once said, “Tomorrow we can eat broccoli, but today is for ice cream.” Whether it’s in a cup or cone, a classic or an innovative flavor, ice cream is never a wrong choice when you’re searching for dessert. So without further ado, here are the best Ice Cream parlors in the East you should try.

1. Birds Of Paradise

Like Fatcat, Birds of Paradise (BOP) is no stranger to the topic. BOP stands out with their signature lavender-infused cone, which floral perfume wafts through the air. The crowds’ favorite includes the Strawberry Basil, Sea Salt Hojicha and White Chrysanthemum. But we highly recommend the Basil. Yes, the plant. Again, this popular ice cream shop is always packed, especially at night.

2. Fatcat Ice Cream Bar

Known for its avant-garde flavors and popular Salted Egg Yolk Custard Sauce, Fatcat Ice Cream Bar is unbeknownst to most who live in the East. With everchanging seasonal flavors such as the Bak Kwa and Pineapple Tart last Chinese New Year, Fatcat is always keeping us on the edge! Do note that the shop has constrained space so expect long waiting times during peak hours.

Location: 416 Bedok North Ave 2, #01-25, Singapore 460416

3. Tokyo Milk Cheese Factory

You might recognize Tokyo Milk Cheese Factory for their cookies. But they make pretty good soft serves too. Their Cow Cow Milk (S$4) uses premium Hokkaido Jersey Milk while their Cow Cow Cheese (S$4) uses a mixture of Gouda and cream cheese. I do recommend getting the Cow Cow Twist (S$4.5) for the best of both worlds; a divine combination of sweet and savory.

Location: 78 Airport Blvd, B – 265, Singapore 819666

4. Three’s A Crowd

Three's a crowd Waffles

Three’s A Crowd is nestled in the HDB clusters beside Tampines West MRT Station. Well-known for their handcrafted ice cream, they serve quite an assortment of flavors. Their Coconut, Pistachio and Espresso were all really good. But the real showstopper was the Durian which was creamy and decadent.

5. Route Sixty Six

Not to be confused with the famous road in Disney Pixar’s Cars, Route Sixty Six is located opposite FatCat Ice Cream Bar. They have pretty standard flavors, with only a few that stand out such as Cheese and White Rabbit. However, this is the place to go to if you like dense, fudgy waffles to go with your ice cream.

6. Merely Ice Cream

A famous retreat for SMU students, this humble ice cream parlor has opened a second brand at Our Tampines Hub. A single scoop costs only S$3.5, one of the cheaper options on this list. And their best-selling flavors include Salted Butterscotch, Roasted Pistachio and our recommended Horlicks Panda.

Location: 1 Tampines Walk, #B1-52 Our Tampines Hub, Singapore 528523
