Not every great date night needs a reservation.
If you’re looking for date ideas — whether you’re currently in a long-distance relationship, or if you’re just looking for something interesting to do this weekend, online co-op games are the way to go. Short for cooperative game, they often require teamwork and communication, and it’s just a fun an interesting way to spend some time together, whether you’re in separate places or in the same room!
This one covers 17 co-op games across mobile, PC, and console — from free to $50, from a ten-minute browser session to a twenty-hour shared adventure.
1. Tick Tock: A Tale for Two

The only co-op game where talking is the entire mechanic — and it works.
Each player downloads the app on their own device and opens it independently. What you see is different: different clues, different rooms, different puzzle pieces inspired by Scandinavian folklore. A dusty clock shop, a forgotten basement, a strange forest — all eerie enough that you actually want to describe things clearly. The only path forward is to tell each other exactly what you’re looking at and piece the answer together from there.
Cross-platform on iOS, Android, PC, and Switch at $4.99.
2. The Past Within

Rusty Lake’s asymmetric co-op puts one player in the Past and the other in the Future — with neither of you seeing the same screen.
Two different timelines, two different environments, one shared story that can only be solved by exchanging what you see. The atmosphere is classic Rusty Lake: ornate rooms, unsettling imagery, a mystery that builds slowly. It runs about two hours, which makes it exactly right for a single session.
Cross-platform on iOS, Android, and PC. $5.99.
3. BOKURA

You and your partner are controlling the same character — but your screens look completely different.
One of you might see a robot where the other sees a storybook animal. The only way to navigate the puzzles is to describe what’s in front of you, and trust what your partner describes back. Underneath the mechanic is a genuinely heartwarming story about two kids who ran away from home.
Each game takes three to four hours total, on iOS, Android, PC, and Switch at $4.99.
4. Spaceteam

The only co-op game on this list where shouting at your partner is the correct strategy.
Each player gets a control panel on their phone, full of nonsensical sci-fi switches and dials. The instructions that appear on your screen almost always refer to buttons on your partner’s panel — so you’ll both be urgently calling out things like ‘Boost the Quantum Flange to seven!’ while the ship falls apart around you.
Zero learning curve, zero download friction, and it works just as well over a voice call as it does in the same room. Free on iOS and Android.
5. Sky: Children of the Light

From the team behind Journey — a co-op game with no combat, no enemies, and no pressure.
Sky is an open-world exploration game from thatgamecompany where you and your partner fly through ancient kingdoms, hold hands, play instruments together, and return fallen stars to their constellations. The base game is free; seasonal content and cosmetics are optional. Cross-platform on iOS, Android, PC, and Switch — meaning it works regardless of what devices you’re both on. Free.
6. Keep Talking and Nobody Explodes

One of you is staring at a live bomb. The other is holding the manual. Neither of you can see what the other has.
The defuser describes the wires, modules, and symbols on their screen; the expert reads from the Bomb Defusal Manual and shouts back instructions. Simple in theory, genuinely panicked in practice — especially as the clock ticks down and the modules get more obscure.
This high-tension co-op game works best across a room or over a call, with one phone and one manual between you.
iOS, Android, PC, and VR at $9.99.

7. It Takes Two

GOTY 2021 — and still the benchmark every co-op game gets measured against.
Hazelight’s genre-defining adventure puts two players in the bodies of a couple who are literally turning into dolls after their daughter makes a wish. Every chapter introduces a completely new mechanic — platformer, shooter, puzzle, rhythm game — and none of them overstay their welcome. The Friend Pass means only one person needs to buy it; the other downloads the free pass and joins for nothing.
Available on PC, PS5, Xbox, and Switch. $29.99 (one copy covers both players).
8. Split Fiction

A sci-fi writer and a fantasy writer get trapped inside their own stories after a tech company tries to steal their ideas. The result is eight chapters of constantly shifting mechanics: dragon riding, zero-gravity hacking, a fantasy kingdom collapsing in real time.
One purchase covers both players — and cross-platform co-op means PS5 and PC couples can finally play together. ~$50.
9. PEAK

Six dollars, two players, one mountain that changes every day.
PEAK is a cooperative climbing game where you and your partner scale daily-rotating mountains, manage stamina, and try not to tumble off a cliff. Proximity voice chat means communication happens in real time — who holds the ledge while the other climbs, whether to risk the jump.
It sold 10 million copies within weeks of its June 2025 launch, and the reason is simple: five-minute learning curve, hilariously bad failure states, and shared moments people actually talk about the next morning. Our favourite co-op game on the list to be honest.
PC only via Steam at $6.99.
10. Stardew Valley

The most relaxing game on this list — and one of the few where there is genuinely no rush.
You and your partner share a farm: splitting crop duties, exploring mines, raising animals, attending festivals, and slowly building a life from scratch. The mobile version now supports experimental multiplayer (via the 1.6.9 update, connect by IP) — meaning you can tend the same farm from different devices. Designed to be played across weeks rather than a single session.
PC, Mac, console, iOS, and Android. $14.99 on PC; around $8 on mobile.
11. A Way Out

A prison escape that turns into a road trip — and ends in a way neither of you will see coming.
Two prisoners break out together and stay on the run through a surprisingly story-driven adventure. The whole game is split-screen throughout, including cutscenes — meaning you’re always watching what your partner is doing, even when the story is talking to them directly. One Friend Pass covers both players.
PC, PS5, and Xbox. $29.99 (one copy covers both).
12. Fireboy and Watergirl

The easiest game on this list to start, and a nostalgic one (our editor insisted that we add this!). But it does get harder than it looks by level four.
Fireboy can’t touch water; Watergirl can’t touch fire. Every level is built around that rule, and most puzzles require both players moving at exactly the same time — which means real coordination rather than just button-mashing. It runs in the browser with no download required and no account needed, making it the lowest-friction co-op option on this list.
Free at coolmathgames.com — also available on iOS and Android.
13. Enchambered: Alone Together

This co-op virtual escape room stands out for its collaborative nature, requiring you and your partner to use separate devices to find clues, control gadgets, and solve intricate challenges.
It’s an engaging way to bond over puzzle-solving, alien language symbols, and playing cards with your partner. Once one of you escapes, be sure not to leave your partner behind, as you’re still needed to solve the last piece of the puzzle.
Free to play on Enchambered.
14. Crime-solving detective game — Unsolved Case

For a thrilling and brain stimulating date idea, consider playing Unsolved Case.
You and your partner take on the roles of detectives Old Dog and Ally, collaborating to crack codes and solve riddles to find out who the elusive killer is. For those who are familiar, this co-op puzzle game serves as a prequel to the Cryptic Killer series.
The game’s noir-inspired environments and gripping mystery create an immersive experience.
Unsolved Case lasts for 30-60 minutes.
Free play on: App Store, Steam, Google Play
15. Post-apocalyptic survival — Raft Survival

Will you and your partner survive on the Raft in the middle of the ocean?
Set in a post-apocalyptic ocean world, the Raft Survival game lets you and your partner gather resources, build and upgrade your raft, defend against shark attacks, explore the islands, and craft weapons along the way. The game offers realistic 3D graphics that allow players to get immersed in the storyline while working together to survive.
Raft Survival is a free play game.
Play: App Store, Google Play
