[REVIEW] Big Fish Small Fish launches tea time menu with Udders’ Lycking

If you’re looking for a new afternoon tea spot to satisfy your sweet tooth, look no further than Big Fish Small Fish’s new tea time menu.

In collaboration with Lycking, under the parent company Udders, this halal-certified menu boasts up to eight delicious flavours, including Awesomely Chocolate and Singapore Chendol, which will be rotated on a bi-monthly basis.

It’s odd, isn’t it? A fish-and-chips chain restaurant serving cafe-style ice cream and waffles? But, they are not too bad.

Well, the ice cream is from Udders, so you don’t have to worry about quality. We ordered the Thai Iced Tea and Summer Strawberries, both at $4.5 per scoop. Both were creamy and sweet. Meanwhile, the waffle was slightly dense and cakey.

But the treats don’t stop there. Ice cream lovers can enjoy a refreshing ice cream float, served with the smooth and creamy Lycking’s Vanilla ice cream atop their choice of soda — Sprite, Coke, or Root Beer.

There’s more!

And with 11 delectable dishes to choose from, the Tea-Rific Menu Set at Big Fish Small Fish Cafe has something for everyone.

Start off with one of four Starter Sets, featuring savoury snacks like Truffle Parmesan Cheese and Chicken Spam Fries, paired with your favourite drink.

We highly recommend the Cheese Sticks with Pomodoro Sauce. It’s crispy, airy exterior cracks open to reveal one of the best cheese pulls I have ever seen. The Tator Tots were also well-fried.

If you’re looking for something more substantial, opt for one of their croissants. It’s pairings are pretty standard, with options such as the Chicken Luncheon, Classic Ham & Cheese, and Turkey Bacon
& Egg
.

If I’m being very honest, I had the lowest expectations. Croissants are one of more difficult dishes to master, and even cafes who have more experience than Big Fish Small Fish fail to deliver. But this… this blew my mind. It was crispy, flakey, and airy, and the eggs were perfectly scrambled too!

Each set comes with a free coffee or tea, but we topped up to try their Rocky Road Coffee, which is a latte with peanut butter foam at the top. The foam was thick, and surprisingly, not sweet at all. It tasted just like natural peanut butter, but with a lighter texture. I am never a fan of sweet coffee and only ordered this out of curiosity, but this definitely exceeded expectations.

This wallet-friendly menu is available on weekdays from 2.30pm to 6pm, and exclusively at the Suntec City branch. So gather your friends and family for a tea time treat at Big Fish Small Fish.
