If the distinct charm of Dinosaur Couch-style graphics captivates you, get ready for a tailor-made art exhibit! White Space Art Asia proudly presents ‘Locious: The Universe of Now,’ a solo showcase by Indonesian artist Galih Reza Suseno.
Happening from 31 August to 24 September 2023, step into a realm of emotion and intrigue as ‘Locious: The Universe of Now’ delves into climate change and sustainability through ancient Indonesian legends. With Galih Suseno’s imaginative characters and landscapes, ponder the present and your role in nature-human harmony.
Indonesian artist Galih’s profound environmental concern traces back to the loss of his childhood village, swallowed by urban expansion. His art is driven by a genuine desire to bridge the gap between humanity and the natural world, reigniting the reverence our ancestors held for the Earth.
Utilising acrylic and modelling paste, Galih’s creations conjure the essence of Pointillism from afar, while revealing a unique textured style and endearing characters up close.
In Javanese culture, each environmental element boasts a Genius Locus, a guardian spirit. Galih brings these spirits to life through his charming ensemble of characters, collectively named the Locious.
Every Locious embodies a facet of nature, mirroring Galih’s exploration into ecosystem revival. His latest series challenges traditional notions of Nature and human interactions, urging viewers to envision a more harmonious coexistence.
