Lucky Dumplings is the newest dumplings takeaway store at ION Orchard, with a modern interpretation of dumplings, with fillings like Mala Chicken, Kimchi and Cheese and Truffle Mushroom.

The Mala Chicken ($5.9 for 6pcs, $6.9 for 8pcs) was lightly numbing and fragrant.

Meanwhile, the Kimchi and Cheese ($5.9 for 6pcs, $8.9 for 8pcs) was surprisingly mellow. I expected a sharp tang with a light spice. However, it was blessed with a funky fermented aroma. The richness of the cheese was also just right; enough to balance out the kimchi.

It was deep-fried instead of pan-fried, which was how the Mala Chicken was prepared.

The Truffle Mushroom costs $7.9 for 6 pieces and $9.9 for 8 pieces.

For a more filling meal, Lucky Dumpling’s Szechuan Chicken and Truffle Mushroom start from $7.9. You can choose to add 6 pieces of dumplings or switch it up to a bento set, which includes the same portion of noodles and 3 pieces of dumplings.

The Szechuan Chicken was lightly coated in a spicy and numbing Szechuan chilli oil and the noodles had a springy texture.

Dumplings takeaway concept at the basement of ION Orchard

Dumplings with modern flavours and the small selection of noodles remind me of Dumpling Darlings, a dumpling specialty restaurant at Telok Ayer.

In comparison, as a takeaway option and its quality, I’d say that the dumplings here are reasonably priced for its novelty.
