Is 63 Espresso closed?

Yes, this hole-in-the-wall coffee speciality cafe near Tanjong Pagar is permanently closed as of 2024. It is replaced by Leaf @ Sail, a flower shop.

But if you’re still keen to read on about how this short-lived coffee house fared, here’s what we thought when we tried it in 2019.

Our honest review of 63 Espresso

Before the globalisation of Starbucks, coffee in the west was centered around the grab-and-go concept.

Convenient and efficient, it was ideal for workers who didn’t have the luxury of time to post it on Instagram. Regrettably, coffee like such were brewed for its caffeine, not for savouring.

The opening of 63 Espresso, a mini coffee shop located at Downtown CBD area allows commuters to grab a cup of good coffee easily before going to work!

63 Espresso is a coffee program developed by 63 Celcius, with their beans obtained from Antipodean coffee roaster Allpress Espresso.

For its size and quantity, I’d agree that the coffees here are priced reasonably — between $4 to $6.50.

But how was the quality?

I got myself a cup of Latte. It’s perfect for those who have a more neutral palate since it had no striking notes nor intense flavors.

For $7.5, an additional top up of $2 from the coffee, you can get a cake and coffee set.

I got the black velvet cake, which was extremely dry. So dry that I couldn’t finish it.

The coffee shop was small, with a lack of table spaces for working.
