Hailing all the way from Los Angeles, Sneakertopia first exhibition in Asia will be held at Singapore’s ArtScience Museum.

From 25 February to 30 July, Sneakertopia Singapore will feature over 100 limited edition sneakers. However, the exhibition celebrates not just the sneakers, but street art, murals and music as part of the experience. Connects artists with brands, giving birth to over 50 murals and installations. Of which, 16 are local artists, while others include top US creatives like McFlyy, Michael Murphy and Mimi Yoon.

The exhibition comprises of ten zones to explore.

  • The Entrance
  • DIY Expression Zone
  • Giant Shoe
  • The Street
  • The Playground
  • The Backlot
  • The Art + Sole Gallery
  • The Frugal
  • The Dream Room
  • The Activity Room

Zones you MUST check out!

The Frugal is retable, edgy and chaotic street style zone, which highlights the contrast between the working and upper class. Greeted by an art piece titled “A Myna Rebellion” by SKL0 (Sam Lo), you enter an area with that features works by local artist HURUHARA, exemplifying the atmosphere of Singapore’s graffiti scene.

As you take a few more steps toward a hidden area in the back, you enter the world of Frugal, a parody of iconic street culture brand Supreme. An extremely Instagram-worthy spot, remember to snap your pics here!

Meanwhile, The Backlot explains how sneaker culture has infiltrated the entertainment industry through films, television and various other media. Here, we see how sneakers transitioned from being part of various subcultures, into a huge global phenomenon. Several iconic movie posters such as E.T. and Pulp Fiction, have been adapted with visuals from sneaker culture, allowing visitors to take quirky shots with their favourite movies posters.

The zone also features other peculiar pieces such as JJ Lin x Jahan Lim’s helmet, an LV x Supreme Trunk, and even a pair of highly coveted Dior Jordan 1 Low.

Lastly, a collaboration zone with Singaporean creatives, The Activity Room is run in collaboration with Tell Your Children (TYC), a creative studio. TYC designed a large mural, titled A Walk in Time, which features iconic influences of today’s sneaker scene — even with Steve jobs in his iconic New Balances.

The zone also features a pair of kicks made from recycled materials, as a part of TYC’s Sneaker Collage Masterclass. A final setup also allows visitors to snap a pic of their current shoes to be added to the Sneakertopia archives.
