From the same team that brought us Meadesmoore, Fat Belly, Market Bistro and Elixir Coffee & Wine, YARA is the newest concept that blends Asian traditions with global ingredients, creating dishes that are flavourful with a twist.
Here’s what we tried

The Grilled Fish of the Day (market price) was cooked over charcoal until perfectly tender, with just the right touch of smokiness.
What really stood out were the two house-made sambals. The Sambal Ijo was. herby and mildly spicy. On the other hand, the Sambal Matah was bright and aromatic with an addictive heat that hits the back of your throat.

The Altair Grass-Fed Wagyu Picanha. ($45 for 220g, $88 for 450g) is a must-order for all beef lovers. And if it’s done by the team of Fat Belly, you already know that it will be good.
The beef came with a beautiful pink hue. Though it leaned slightly on the chewier side, it was packed with bold, beefy flavour. To add on, the punchy Asian-style chimichurri cut through the richness nicely.
But I gotta say, it was perfect without the sauce as well.

For something lighter, the Haricot Vert Kerabu ($18) was a pleasant surprise. It’s a vegan and gluten-free Malaysian-inspired salad that’s crunchy and refreshing. The ginger flower and fermented chilli dressing added a zingy and tongue-tingling heat.
The Yu-Tang Clam Bowl ($24) was a comforting noodles dish that combined wild-caught Balai threadfin (Ngor Her) and silky rice noodles in a broth made from fish bones, which was so clean yet rich.

The Chilled “Kueh Talam” Pudding ($10) turned the classic layered kueh into a soft, light custard with a touch of fleur de sel. It’s pretty simple, yet refreshing.
Meanwhile, the Tofu Cheesecake was more than the eye can see. It’s light and creamy, though the passion fruit puree was a bit too tart and could use a lighter drizzle.
