While Singapore’s weather does not allow us to fully transit from sundresses and tank tops to coats and puffy jackets, that doesn’t mean we don’t have the luxury to switch up our wardrobes to welcome the new season.

Goodbye summer, hello fall. The biggest fall 2022 trends, as reflected in designer collections, redefines wardrobe staples. Colour palettes shift from more neutral, pastel tones to bolder, brighter pops of colours, as seen from COS Autumn/Winter ’22 Collection that reflects a wider and more vibrant swatch compared to its typical timeless designs. Clothes are also deconstructed, or showcasing unique knits and statement embellishments, such as sequins. Last but not least, we’re seeing more functional pieces ripple through this season’s collections, as seen from multiple collaborations between sportswear and haute couture.

To tie your outfit together, here are three sneakers from adidas to cop this season.

1. NMD_S1 RIMOWA

We’ve witnessed some of the biggest fashion collaborations this year: Disney and Givenchy, Louis Vuitton and Nike, Versace and Fendi and more.

This season, adidas and RIMOWA combine their efforts to create their first-ever capsule collection. The two powerhouses aim to encourage urbanites’ exploration of the wild as the collection takes on khaki and titanium as its main colour palate, a reflection of nature and urban.

The NMD_S1 RIMOWA ($380) features the signature Primeknit uppers in Titanium, with a light, almost translucent base. The panels that jut from the midsole are printed with the coordinates of each company’s German headquarters.

You can easily pair this with techwear, or dress it down with a pair of joggers and t-shirt.

Aside from the NMD_S1, the cross-category collection also features RIMOWA’s first-ever aluminium backpack.

This collection will be launched on 17 November and will be available on adidas’ and RIMOWA’s websites.

2. adidas Samba – White & Green

Think of this as the new Stan Smiths.

The Samba was one of adidas’ first designs, purposed as a football sneaker. It’s a timeless look, featuring the brand’s signature three stripes. While this series has been sitting on the shelves for the past 70 years, its popularity started spiking up in the past two years.

For starters, the return of vintage. The Sambas are a reminder of street style in the past, with its leather body and suede overlays, along with its gum sole. But it was really the recent high-profile collaborations that propelled it to fame. Jonah Hill, and the upcoming Spring 2023 with Balenciaga, starring Bella Hadid, are worthy mentions. But none is as special as the Grace Wales Bonner collaboration, which integrated high fashion with sports.

That being said, we recommend the Green & White ($208) combination this fall. Not just because it’s the more affordable option (the Grace Wales Bonner Sambas are $1,000). Green has been an increasingly popular colour in the past few years. Think of the green Stan Smiths craze a few years back

The Green Sambas are not available in adidas’ official store in Singapore, but you can get these on Kickscrew

3. Astir Shoes

This sneaker is for those who wish to hop on the Y2K trend, without it being too in-your-face. We recommend adidas’ Astir Shoes ($45, U.P $100) for its chunky silhouette and slightly elevated platforms; not forgetting its crazy pops of colours accentuated by a plain cream background.

You can wear this as a statement piece with an oversized t-shirt and baggy jeans, or add this to your Y2K fit to complete the look!
