Beacon Resort, Hulu Selangor review – “Santorini” resort for a getaway

Joyous Castle at Beacon Resort KL Review

If you’ve been dreaming of a quick escape from the buzz of Kuala Lumpur city life without having to drive too far, Beacon Resort, Hulu Selangor (one hour from KL) might just be your next perfect weekend hideout.

Tucked away in a peaceful nook surrounded by nature, it’s the kind of place where your phone might actually take a backseat (unless you’re on Instagram duty because yes, it’s very aesthetic).

I recently spent a 2D1N getaway here and honestly, I left feeling like I got more than what I bargained for in a good way. There’s a good mix of relaxation, light adventure, and photo-worthy spots, and if you’re a fan of all-inclusive packages (meals and certain amenities sorted, this place has you covered.

The Stay – White Jasmine Room

We stayed in the White Jasmine Room, and the first thing that came to mind when I walked in was Instagram goals. The whole space is decked out in rustic bohemian charm with wooden textures and soft lighting. The mosquito net over the king bed gave it a dreamy and glamping vibe.

Even though it’s a 48m² room, they managed to fit 1 king bed and 4 single rollaways, making it suitable for up to 6–8 people, which is pretty impressive because it didn’t feel like a dorm. Since we only had 2 pax, the extra beds became our designated lounge zones.

The bathroom was unexpectedly spacious, complete with a bathtub, a big shower space, and double basins (because no one likes taking turns in the morning).

More than just “things to do”

The resort doesn’t skimp on activities, and it was surprisingly well thought out for both kids and grown-ups.

Grass sliding

Super fun and slightly chaotic in the best way. You do have to carry your sled up the stairs each time (be prepared for a slight workout), and yes, you might get a little wet… but that’s part of the fun. It’s especially entertaining for kids or if you’re young at heart.

Hot springs

Five different pools, each with varying temperatures from 29°C to 40°C. The setup is beautiful, and it’s honestly one of the best ways to soak your stress away while surrounded by greenery. I liked how it wasn’t overcrowded and still felt clean and tranquil.

Hydrogen spa

This one caught me off guard in the best way. It’s not your usual onsen-style soak. Instead, it leans more towards a high-tech wellness experience, complete with a sauna, hot bath, ice bath (if you’re feeling brave because it is indeed REALLY cold), and clean individual shower rooms for added privacy.

The hydrogen-infused water is said to offer benefits like skin rejuvenation, faster muscle recovery, and more. At RM60+ per pax for an hour (U.P RM150+), it’s a great value if you’re into spa-style relaxation with a modern twist.

Camellia Walk

This area was a visual treat. The white wave wall and lookout doors made me feel like I stepped into a peaceful, mini-Santorini. It’s a nice place for a romantic stroll or just some quiet time in nature. You’ll definitely want to take some photos here.

Inki River & hammock

Lying in a hammock right over the river felt like the perfect balance of nature and comfort. You can even take a dip in the clear river if you’re feeling adventurous. Bring a book or just zone out to the sounds of the flowing water.

Joyous Castle

Even though we didn’t have kids with us, the Joyous Castle was calling out our inner child. It’s whimsical, bright white, and feels straight out of a fairytale. There’s a kids’ climbing area, swings, and slides, as well as plenty of photo ops.

If you want to take a break from walking, there’s also a mini indoor game section with sandcastle building, bowling, target shooting and many more. Great for keeping the little ones busy, but also pretty entertaining for grown-ups.

More adventures at Beacon Resort KL

The jungle trek was guided and felt like a real hike, not just a stroll, so if you’re not used to trails, bring proper shoes and definitely insect repellent. It’s not too long, but it gives you that full “immersed in nature” feeling.

The animal farm was unfortunately under upgrading works when we visited, so we didn’t get to see much. That said, the idea of feeding pygmy goats and ducks sounds adorable, and I’ll definitely check it out next time. Horse and Pony riding is available too (weight limit applies).

White Bar & Cafe

The coffee was surprisingly good, actually better than expected for a resort cafe. The space overlooks the pool, making it a great spot to unwind, and there’s even a pool table if you’re up for a casual game while you chill.

Camping vibes

If comforting rooms aren’t your thing, you can stay in the tents for a semi-camping experience (starts from RM60+). Even if you don’t stay there, you can still opt for a Thai-style Mookata dinner at the campsite for that outdoorsy touch without sacrificing comfort.

Worth the price?

Absolutely, especially with the Meals & Facilities Package. For RM174+ (adult) and RM119+ (child), you get full board meals and access to many amenities and activities. Just note that accommodation is not included in that price, but the rooms start at a reasonable RM330+.

Final thoughts

Beacon Resort KL isn’t your typical “staycation” spot, it’s something a little different. A little quirky. A little nature-loving. But overall, very refreshing. Whether you’re going as a couple, a family, or even a small group of friends, it offers enough variety to keep everyone entertained without overloading your itinerary.
