However, there are so many other activities you can sign up for.

1. Chucky Chappy Cafe & Pet Store

Purin (Japanese pudding) at Sunday Morning Coffee Shop JB Cafe
Purin (RM 12)

Don’t worry, you can visit this shop on the weekdays as well — just not on Wednesdays.

One of the best cafes near the JB checkpoint, Sunday Morning Coffee Shop offers Japanese drip coffee, mains and desserts.

For coffee, you could either opt for Hand Drip from RM 11, which is your standard filter coffee, but brewed the way the Japanese would — with a hot kettle. Meanwhile, the Cold Drip is achieved by slow dripping cold water for 14 hours through coffee grounds

Both are great. But, if you’re wondering if you should get anything to eat, we recommend the Mentaiko Udon (RM 26, $7.5) and the Banana Cinnamon (RM 12, $3.4).

16. Slow Days Cafe

Slow Days Cafe matcha drinks and desserts in JB Mount Austin

Take things slow at this matcha cafe in JB. It’s spacious, it’s cosy, and it has solid matcha cakes and drinks.

Fuel up with their Signature Matcha (RM 16.9, $5), which was grassy and balanced. Can’t say that the matcha was the most premium, but it was above average for sure.

But the highlight here had to be their nama cakes. It comes in three layers, a light sponge as the base, a rich and dense ganache-like layer in the middle, and a whipped cream on top. Their selection rotates every day, but you can expect Japanese flavours include Matcha, Hojicha, and Genmaicha for RM 28.

17. Wei Guo Ding Zun Hot Pot Buffet

This is hands down one of the best hot pot buffets in JB.

Not only is the selection of meats and seafood wide, the meats are super tender, and the seafood was surprisingly fresh. We recommend spamming the clams, prawns, pork belly and lamb slices, which are the best items there.

The soup base also deserves a special shoutout. The Tomato Soup was tart and sweet, while the Herbal Soup was earthy and potent; none of that powdered soup flat flavours. But, if you can take the heat, we highly recommend the Spicy Milk Soup, which was so flavourful.
