It’s run by the same team as Shiba-Cafe, a famous dog cafe in JB Mount Austin that that’s teeming with pesky little Shiba Inus. D.A Little Farm is located in the same shophouse, just on the third floor.

Hence, if you’re thinking about visiting this new pet cafe on your next JB trip, we’ll be sharing tips and tricks on how to make the most out of your visit, as well as generic information on D.A Little Farm’s prices and how to get there.

How to make the most out of your 1-hour session at D.A Little Farm?

D.A Little Farm costs RM 58 ($16.5) per person for a 1-hour session. While it’s an acceptable rate for many Singaporeans, it is one of the more expensive pet cafes in JB. So, how do you make the most out of your time?

Don’t worry! This alpaca is very well behaved and doesn’t spit!

Firstly, be early.

This might sound like a brain dead solution, but you’ll be surprised by how many latecomers there were for our session. We reached 15 minutes early for our 5:15pm session to pay, use the washroom and wear our sock covers, leaving us with five minutes to spare. Thankfully, if you’re early and if the animals are also ready, the staff at D.A Little Farm will just let you in.

For a good 5-10 minutes, we were the only ones in the farm. Not only did this give us more space to interact and take photos with the animals , we were also given early access to see the skunk and fennec foxes, which were kept in a “warm room” — a separate space from the main play area.

Should I buy snacks?

Many pet cafes in and out of JB will offer snacks for their animals. While it only costs $1-2, there is really no need to purchase them here.

During our 1-hour session here, we were given a handful of carrots and a bunch of grass. Frankly, even without the food, the animals were relatively friendly with people.

Our honest review of D.A Little Farm

It’s definitely the most expensive pet cafe in JB we know of.

For context, As Clouds and Chow Q Cafe has no entry fee. Meanwhile, a 1-hour session at Chucky Chappy Cafe & Pet Store, which is a cat cafe that houses other animals like guinea pigs, chameleons, geckos and tortoises, starts from RM 22.9.

Despite the higher price, we thoroughly enjoyed our time there.

However, it was a little heartbreaking to see how little space the animals had to roam around, especially the alpaca, who didn’t even have company.

The meerkats were also not provided a sandy terrain to dig holes, which forced them to pointless dig at the floor. At one point, they tore the metal ring off the walls, revealing the sharp ends of the screws. Burrowing is a meerkat’s natural instinct to hide from predators and survive the harsh African heat.

Can someone figure out if that’s animal poop or snacks?

The saving grace is that at least “warm rooms” and artificial sand are provided for the fennec foxes and skunk, which are acclimatised to Africa’s warmer climate.

How to get to D.A Little Farm?

holding parrots and love birds at DA Little Farm
Don’t be afraid to interact with the birds. While their talons are sharp, they won’t pierce your skin unless
you agitate them (does this count as victim blaming?)

After crossing the checkpoint, we recommend taking a Grab as Mount Austin is quite a distance from JB Sentral. Depending on the time of day, the Grab averages at RM 30.

As D.A Little Farm is located on the third floor of a shophouse, all you have to do is look for the “Shi-Ba Cafe” sign on the floor. Alternatively, the “VN Beauty” signboard attached to the ceiling near the entrance might be easier to spot.
