Most hanfu studios hand you a rack of costumes and a mirror on the spot. Dressed Up Dreams does the opposite — every outfit, hairstyle and colour scheme is worked out with you before you even walk in, so the only thing left to do on shoot day is show up and enjoy it — and that’s exactly what we love about this.
Dressed Up Dreams is Singapore’s first studio dedicated to hanfu portrait photography, tucked away at Halcyon 2 near Marymount MRT.
Personal portrait sessions start from $580, couple and pre-wedding shoots from $780, and friendship or family group portraits from $1,080 — all styled around Chinese historical periods ranging from the Tang Dynasty to Wuxia.
Our experience at Dressed Up Dreams
The process starts long before the actual shoot. Instead of picking an outfit off a rack on the day, you go through a full consultation beforehand — sharing your outfit, hair and makeup preferences, sending photos of yourself, and even giving your measurements. The team then customises the look based on what actually suits you, not just what you initially pictured.
That attention carries through to shoot day. The stylists checked in before settling on a hairstyle, suggesting an option they felt worked better with my face shape rather than defaulting to whatever was agreed on earlier.
I could tell just how much care and detail they put into the makeup and hair.

But at the same time, the shoot was so relaxed, which is important for anyone who hasn’t done a studio shoot before. To me, that mattered more than the outfits or the set. But the photographer talked through poses and made it so comfortable for us, which obviously resulted in more natural-looking photos.
