ps cafe sticky date pudding review

PS. Cafe has just launched their Christmas menu, featuring traditional favourites as well as festive twists on the classics.

The cafe, with over ten branches in Singapore, is famed for its truffle fries and chocolate cake, so you know their Christmas dishes won’t disappoint. Different outlets rotate their Christmas menu weekly, and here’s what we had at Great World City in the first week of December.

Christmas-exclusive menu at PS. Cafe

We started the meal with Grilled Halloumi ($18). Three pieces of a tart and rich halloumi, laid atop a pool of green herb hummus. At least that’s what the menu says; it tasted more like guacamole with me. Either way, it was strong, tangy, and addictive. If anything, it stole the show from the halloumi.

The farmer’s bread that came with it had a nice smoky char as well.

For our mains, we recommend the Bacon Wrapped Beef Filet Mignon ($54) for beef lovers. The fillet was beefy and it’s flavours were accentuated by the mildly-salty bacon wrapped around it. For a more balanced flavour profile, eschalots and confit cherry tomatoes are served on the side.

Meanwhile, for a quintessential festive dinner, the PS. Traditional Christmas Dinner ($38) comes with a little bit of everything: succulent oven-roasted turkey layered, apricot-glazed leg ham, chestnut and sage stuffing, accompanied by roasted pumpkin, potatoes, and broccoli.

Here’s a festive twist on one of PS.Cafe’s iconic desserts (not the chocolate cake) — the Christmas Sticky Date Pudding ($15). PS.Cafe’s rendition features decadent rum and brandy soaked festive fruits set within its rich sponge. It is served drenched in a delicious brandy butterscotch sauce and topped with a scoop of vanilla ice cream. It’s rich, yet comforting.

Other dishes that are on rotation are Baked Brie ($22), Petit Turkey Cranberry Caesar ($18), Chargrilled Pasture Fed Tasmanian Rack of Lamb ($48), Lobster Rockefeller & Torn Prawn Linguine ($46)

Christmas cocktails

Celebrate the season of good cheer with an array of delicious holiday inspired cocktails created by PS.Cafe’s inhouse mixologists.

The PS. Christmas Cooler ($23) comprises a mix of Four Pillars Australian Christmas Gin, which is distilled using real Christmas puddings, Fever Tree Ginger Ale, lemon juice, orange juice, luxardo maraschino cherries and a cinnamon stick for extra festive flavour.

Meanwhile, the St. Nick Negroni ($24) is a seasonal twist on a classic. It also featuring Four Pillars Australian Christmas Gin, and it’s topped with Mancino Rosso Vermouth, Garofoli Guasco Montepulciano and Christmas spices.

PS. Cafe’s Christmas menu is only available till 26 December.
