Reading an e-book on SO/ Singapore, luxury boutique hotel under Sofitel

SO/ Singapore is a luxury boutique hotel located in the heart of Singapore’s Central Business District.

Paying homage to its roots in France, SO/ Singapore infused Parisian aesthetics into its modern concept. Neoclassic elements are visibly reflected by the hotels’ high ceilings, marble fixtures and parquet flooring. The hotel lobby was also suffused with a pleasant fragrance, which added an element of luxury to our staycation.

The hotel houses five types of rooms: Cosy, Urban, Studio, Lofty and VIP.

Our experience in the SO/ VIP Suite (92 sqm2)

  • Exquisite furniture in SO/ Singapore VIP Hotel Room
  • Traditionally, a cupola has a small structure with holes to allow ventilation and natural light

Stepping foot into the SO/ VIP Suite was like entering a palace.

Designed by the Miaja Design Group, Sofitel brand colours, fuchsia pink, grey and white, are tastefully carried around the suite. The oh-SO-original French cupola-inspired light box on the ceiling above the queen bed also added to the dreaminess of the room.

The suite also comes with a deluxe private bar that includes complimentary snacks, and a Nespresso machine to keep you up for a late-night movie.

Made by Bisazza, an Italian luxury decor brand, the bathtub is the real showstopper. It fits two people, so it’ll be wise to prepare some bath bombs for your trip. Furthermore, it’s located at the edge of the bathroom, allowing you to enjoy a movie on their television while soaking.

There’s no need to squabble over the basin as the bathroom facilities come in pairs; and that includes the rain shower. There is even a separate vanity table for dressing up, which includes ‘his’ and ‘hers’ amenities.

Smart device to control room

Indulge in movies and shows from various streaming platforms such as Netflix, HBO and National Geographic

Each suite comes with an iPad that controls the curtains and light. Do you remember how you had to roam around the room while you figured out the different switches?

On top of that, you can order room service, make gym, pool and restaurant reservations, and watch movies.

If you have a Netflix account, you can also connect it to the television or play music through your Spotify accounts.

Hotel facilities

Surrounded by skyscrapers, the rooftop infinity pool is petite but lovely. In between your swims, you can sunbath on the sun loungers while sipping on a cocktail. Located beside the pool, the tropical-themed 1927 Rooftop Bar offers signature cocktails paired with the chefs’ selection of bar bites.

Advanced reservations are required to access the pool and gym.

For other food options, Lau Pa Sat Hawker Center is located opposite the hotel, while Maxwell Road Food Center is a walking distance away. There are several notable restaurants and cafes in the neighbourhood, as well as a 7-Eleven just around the corner.

The luxurious staycation experience at SO/ Singapore exceeded my expectations with the impressive interior design, spacious rooms and friendly staff service. If you do not wish to splurge on the majestic suite, you can enjoy a similar experience with their other bespoke rooms.
