VE/LA Singapore: BKK’s award-winning coffee debuts with 24-hour concept

VE/LA specialty coffee and matcha café interior at Changi Airport Terminal 1, Singapore

Bangkok’s speciality coffee scene just made its Singapore debut — and it picked the one spot in the country that actually makes sense for a 24/7 concept.

VE/LA, the award-winning Thai coffee and matcha brand known for its stunning interiors, is opening its first Singapore outlet at Changi Airport Terminal 1. And because this is Singapore, they’ve gone ahead and created a Kaya Toast Latte exclusively for this location.

VE/LA (เวลา — Thai for “time”) launched in Bangkok in 2021 and has since grown into one of the most visually distinctive coffee brands in Southeast Asia, with around 12 outlets across Thailand and an outpost in Mayfair, London.

Singapore is the brand’s third global market, and the Terminal 1 location — set at the intersection of T1 and Jewel Changi Airport — will be accessible landside, meaning you don’t need a boarding pass to visit. It also marks VE/LA’s first-ever 24-hour cafe.

What to expect at VE/LA Singapore?

VE/LA’s menu draws from VE/LA’s Bangkok lineup: speciality coffee sourced from Thailand and farms worldwide, teas grown by Northern Thai organic farmers, and matcha imported exclusively from Mie, Japan.

The Kaimook Latte is the one to start with: VE/LA’s signature boba coffee, combining a classic latte with brown sugar tapioca pearls and a sweet milk cream topping.

Meanwhile, the cold brew range splits two ways — the Sunny Cold Brew (passionfruit and pineapple tonic over 24-hour cold brew) and the Cloudy Cold Brew (white chocolate cream layered over cold brew).

Matcha fans get the Cloudy Matcha and blended options like the Blended Matchaberry, which combines matcha with strawberries, oat milk, and plant-based cream.

The Singapore-exclusive item is the Kaya Toast Latte — built around one of the most distinctly Singaporean flavour profiles imaginable, filtered through VE/LA’s gradient aesthetic.

Pricing hasn’t been confirmed for Singapore yet, but Bangkok drinks run approximately $4-13 a cup.

On the food side: cookie bites, mille crepe boxes, banana bread, and cake boxes.

Why it’s worth visiting?

Aside from the high-quality brews, for novelty effect, the Kaya Toast Latte gives the whole thing a local angle rather than an imported one.

But also, the 24-hour concept is what sets this apart from a standard brand expansion. Changi’s post-midnight food scene has always been underwhelming, and VE/LA fills a real gap — a properly designed speciality coffee spot open for red-eye travellers, airport crew, and anyone who just wants a matcha at 3am.
