Don’t let its unpretentious appearance fool you as Kim Dae Mun is founded by a Korean chef, serving authentic Korean Food with a homely taste. I think we can all agree that one of the cons of working at Orchard is that most of the food at Orchard is too expensive.
But Kim Dae Mun might just become your go-to lunch spot.

Authentic and affordable Korean dishes in Singapore
Kim Dae Mun’s menu consists of classic dishes such as Korean hot plates, soups, bibimbap, etc.
We got the Beef Soup ($8) with rice and Steamed Dumplings ($4.5).
The Beef Soup consists of sliced beef, glass noodles, cold-pressed tofu, and some bok choi. The flavors were great and the vegetables were well-cooked. The only complaint was the excessively chewy and tough beef slices.
Similar to the Beef Soup, the dumpling filling was lightly seasoned. However, the dumpling skin too dry and we ended up just eating the centre.
In general, I appreciate how the flavors aren’t too heavy. It’s almost like eating at home when your mom would add less seasoning and less oil because they want you to have a healthier diet. That’s exactly the impression that Kim Dae Mun’s dishes invoke.
Our verdict
So what’s our review of Kim Dae Mun?
Honestly, I didn’t find the dishes impressive. But, Kim Dae Mun is famed for its authenticity and most importantly, it is wallet-friendly, especially considering its location at Orchard.
