Minimalistic interior of Knockhouse Cafe

Previously known as Pacamara Singapore, Knockhouse Cafe is a minimalistic cafe along Upper Thomson Road, where prominent names like Belo Cafe and Hello Arigato lie.

The name was derived from the knocking sound that baristas make in the process of extracting a shot of espresso, representing their passion for bringing a pleasant coffee experience to their customers.

Knockhouse Cafe’s beans include Brazil Fazenda Da Lagoa, promising notes of hazelnut and caramelised brown sugar. Meanwhile, for a mix of fruity and chocolate undertones, their seasonal blend- Superlative– might be more suitable.

An Espresso cost $3.5, while a Latte starts from $4.5 for a 3oz cup.

For sweeter options, Roasted Almond Latte ($7) and Salted Caramel Latte ($7) are available. But we recommend their White Russian ($7), inspired by the cocktail that combines vodka, coffee liquor and cream.

Western & Japanese mains

We ordered the Duck Confit Hash ($22) from their brunch section. It comes with a choice of poached, scrambled and sunny-side up egg.

The shredded duck leg was fragrant the egg perfectly cooked. But the star of the plate had to be the potato rosti. Lightly salted, with a veil of crisp and tender insides. The sharp hollandaise on the side helped to serrate all the fats from the rosti and duck.

The brunch menu also includes Steak & Egg ($23) and Egg Florentine ($19).

Meanwhile, their mains comprises Mentaiko Mac & Cheese ($20), Char Siew Ramen ($16) and Gyu Tongue Steak ($25).
