Sounds familiar? TikTok-viral Lavi Taco has just opened a new concept.
Located at the newly-opened KADA, Lavi Tapas serves up a delicious repertoire of fusion tapas dishes. Expect Japanese, Indian and Korean elements injected in traditional Mexican dishes.

Actually fusion? Or just another gimmicky spot?
Not everyone can pull of fusion properly, but you have to credit where credit’s due. Here are two dishes at Lavi Tapas that really showcase their culinary prowess.
Starting with the Chicken & Mole ($20), a fusion of the mole, a traditional nutty sauce used in Mexican cuisine, with a local favourite. The chefs realised that mole tasted very similar to the peanut sauce that accompanies satay. Hence, it takes on a local spin, with raw onions and cucumbers, alongside a grilled “satay” chicken.
While the chef highly recommended this, I personally enjoyed their Korean Carne Asada ($28) more. This was a Korean take on the Mexican steak tacos. I initially thought the fermented funk of the kimchi was going to be too overpowering. But somehow, the chefs manage to impart just a touch of tang and spice to elevate the tacos. It turned out so balance. No doubt this was my favourite dish at Lavi Tapas.

In addition to their fusion tacos, here are the other dishes that we recommend at Lavi Tapas.
You have to try their 72H Birria Sticky Beef Ribs ($55). This dish is the epitome of fork tender and fall-off-the-bones. The birria broth added a nice kick of flavours, and while the ribs were the star of the show, I couldn’t help but to enjoy every single bite of their corn bread!
For sharing dishes, you can’t go wrong with their Gambas ($28) or their Tomato Stracciatella ($23).
