Amara Sanctuary Sentosa review – Dog-friendly staycation

Private jacuzzi for dogs at Amara Sanctuary Sentosa

My dog has been to his fair share of pet-friendly cafés and parks, but nothing quite prepared me for how much we would love our time at Amara Sanctuary Sentosa.

Our review of Amara Sanctuary Sentosa

From the moment we stepped into the lush and peaceful grounds, it felt like we had entered a little retreat made just for pawrents and their furkids. And judging by the zoomies my dog did around the suite, I think he’d agree.

Newly Renovated Courtyard Suite

We stayed in one of the newly renovated Courtyard Suites, and honestly, it was beautiful. These suites are housed in restored 1930s colonial buildings, former quarters of British Sergeants, which I found kinda cool. The room itself was spacious and spotless, with warm tones and a clean, minimalist aesthetic that felt instantly relaxing.

The bathroom has 2 basins (finally no fighting over sink space), a large rain shower, toilet, and the wardrobe was cleverly tucked into the bathroom too. It was one of those spaces you actually want to spend time in. The bathroom amenities were by Appelles Apothecary, which felt like a small but thoughtful touch.

But the real winner for us was the private courtyard. It had a sheltered jacuzzi that we definitely made good use of, while my dog ran wild around the enclosed garden.

Pet-Friendly Perks

What stood out at Amara was how they really thought about the pet experience. Upon arrival, we received a premium amenity box filled with artisanal treats, wipes, pee pads, poop bags, and even a toy, which became my dog’s new obsession. He played with it non-stop and even insisted on bringing it to bed.

They also provided food and water bowls and a comfy dog bed, so we didn’t need to lug anything extra from home. It was one of those rare times I felt like my pup wasn’t just allowed, but actually welcomed.

We were also given an e-Pawrent Guide, which listed out pet-friendly walking trails and photogenic spots around the resort, perfect for lazy strolls and some cute Instagram shots.

High Tea Experience (for my pet, not me)

One of the moments that had me lowkey jealous? His afternoon high tea. The Furkid High Tea Set ($42) is served either alfresco at the Sanctuary Tearoom or right in our suite. While I sipped my tea, he devoured mini salmon blinis, egg “mayo” bruschetta, a pork pupcake, zucchini tartlets, meatball bolognese, and pork & veggie roulade with that look in his eyes like, “You wish you were me.”

If high tea isn’t your pup’s thing, there’s also a curated à la carte menu of human-grade gourmet dishes like beef or pork cottage pie, salmon pawffle, pork meatzza, and even chicken or beef satay. Thoughtfully, they’ve also introduced gently cooked meals for senior dogs or furkids with sensitive tummies.

Breakfast with My Furry Date

Breakfast the next morning was probably one of my favourite part. We sat alfresco at the Sanctuary Tearoom, and we had our own meals. The dog menu (created with Wholesome Paws) had three options, all made with human-grade ingredients:

  • Bark Breakfast – frittata, English sausage, paw scone, banana pancakes
  • Ohayo Breakfast – tamagoyaki, grilled saba, salmon, onigiri, and miso soup
  • Pawsh Breakfast – beef & broccoli casserole, frittata, and a salmon “pawffle”

As for the human breakfast, the buffet was surprisingly impressive. There were the usual bread and pastries, but also a live egg station and even a noodle bar, super satisfying and definitely more variety than I expected.

If you feel like throwing your dog a party, they also offer customisable Pawty Packages—complete with pet-safe cakes and event styling.

You can also opt for the Family Pupnic, a picnic setup where you can hang out with your dog in the resort’s gardens or bring the basket to Palawan Beach.
