I took my matcha obsession to new heights.
and turned it into a full-blown cafe tour across Bangkok with a full-on matcha detective mode — from silky smooth blends to bold, seaweed-y brews that lowkey taste like a trip to Japan. Bangkok has way too many matcha gems hiding in plain sight, and someone had to do the research (you’re welcome).
From budget-friendly sips to bougie blends that made my wallet cry, I taste-tested my way through them all. Here’s the ultimate matcha list you didn’t know you needed, but now you definitely do.
1. Experiment Cafe

If your wallet’s saying “nah” but your heart says “matcha”, come here. Classic to Excellent grades, all under ฿135? It’s a steal!
Price: ฿95 to 135
Vibe: Spacious cafe seating that’s perfect for doing your work
Tried: Excellent — mellow, not bitter, super beginner-friendly. Taste isn’t the most layered, but the quality-per-baht ratio is solid
Heads-up: matcha powder is so good it’s rationed. One per person only.
Location: 222 ซ. จุฬาลงกรณ์ 50 Wang Mai, Pathum Wan, Bangkok 10330
Opening hours: 7am-6pm
2. Good Chā Matcha

No cow milk here — it’s strictly oat, soy, coconut and the like. If you’re a dairy devotee, maybe don’t. But if plant milks are your jam? You’re in for a luxe treat.
Price: ฿135-195
Vibe: Tiny inside, but there are tables outside of the cafe (indoor seating)
Tried: Midori Uji with coconut milk — grassy, a touch sweet
there are interesting options like Melon cha, but not my thing because I prefer my matcha plain
They do sell matcha powder at slightly “oh wow” prices, but they’ve got pink chawan bowls online and I might just cry.
Location: 263 Thong Lo 13 Alley, Khlong Tan Nuea, Watthana, Bangkok 10110
Opening hours:
Mon-Fri: 9am-6pm
Sat-Sun: 8am-6pm
3. CHAEN TEA Experience

This one feels like a masterclass in matcha. So many different blends, and yes — even competition-grade teas
Price: ฿160
Vibe: This has the most feels as they will prepare the tea right in front of you. The tea shop’s design concept is also inspired by the Japanese tea ceremony
Tried: Seimei – pistachio vibes, ultra creamy and mind-blowingly smooth
Foam game was so strong it went full macro (??) instead of microfoam but tasted great
Definitely one for the connoisseurs or if you’re looking to be impressed.
Location: 129 Ban Kluai Nuea Alley, Khlong Tan Nuea, Watthana, Bangkok 10110
Opening hours:
Mon-Sat: 10am-6pm
Sunday: 1-6pm
4. Ksana Matcha

Pretty, Pricey, and… Painfully Petite
This one’s for the “aesthetic over everything” crew. The drinks are beautiful, the café is so instagrammable, but comfy? Not really. At least the drinks were pretty good if you’re willing to pay an exorbitant price.
Price: ฿160 to 200
Vibe: Show up for the cave-like vibes, stick around for the nuanced flavors (and maybe bring a cushion because the seats are so uncomfortable)
Tried: Silenced Highland – nutty, creamy and slightly bitter
Location: 2nd Floor, One City Centre, Unit R2-02, 548 Phloen Chit Rd, Lumphini, Pathum Wan, Bangkok 10330
Opening hours:
Mon-Fri: 8am-5:30pm
Sat-Sun: 8am-6:30pm
5. MTCH

Honestly, one of my favourites because it was so well-balanced for the price.
Price: ฿150
Vibe: Simple wooden decor with a tea bar counter
Tried: Two matcha blends – Okumidori and Yabukita – come together for a perfectly balanced cup. It’s smooth, creamy, slightly bitter and has a rich, full-bodied flavor.
Best all-rounder for those who enjoy a matcha with a bit of strength
Highly recommend for matcha enthusiasts who want complexity without breaking the bank.
Location: 116, 21 Soi Sukhumvit 23, Khlong Toei Nuea, Watthana, Bangkok 10110
Opening hours: 9am-5:30pm
6. Yama Matcha

If you’re into matcha that’s dark, deep, and a little intense — this spot’s calling your name.
Price: ฿135 to 165
Vibe: Pretty normal cafe but it was quite packed in the afternoon
Tried: Samidori: Think seaweed vibes, bittersweet finish, definitely not your sugary matcha latte.
Wasn’t my fave at first (kinda hit me with the bitterness), but it seriously grew on me.
Location: 1775, 5 Wang Mai, Pathum Wan, Bangkok 10330
Opening hours: 9am-5:30pm
7. SO! MATCHA

The name raised my hopes, but my taste buds said meh.
Price: From ฿100 (฿150 for grab order)
Vibe: Did not visit the actual cafe
Tried: It tasted quite flat overall and So! Matcha was… so-so. (Sorry not sorry)
They do have many interesting flavours like Matcha Mandarin, Matcha Lemon Soda, and Mint Matcha Latte. So if you’re looking for something unique, perhaps give this a try.
Location: ชั้น 1 อาคาร ทีวัน 8 Soi Hemwong, พระโขนง Khlong Toei, Bangkok 10110, Thailand
Opening hours:
Mon-Fri: 8am-5pm
Saturday: 10am-6:30pm
Sunday: Closed
