Having roots in Hong Kong, we’re extremely picky about egg tarts and honestly, any type of Hong Kong pastries. We heard from our parents, and later from our foodie friends that Leung Sang Pastries (良辰美點) makes one of the best Hong Kong egg tarts in Singapore, and I’m here to find out.

Flakey Egg Tart crust

Traditional Hong Kong Egg Tarts have to be baked with a flakye, buttery pastry puff; none of that cookie base nonsense. Credits to Leung Sang for nailing the texture of the crust.

But what about the egg custard? It was fragrant with just enough firmness — not too over-baked and not too

Their Hong Kong Egg Tart costs $2 each, available in Flakey Crust and Cookie Crust.

Bo Lo Bun

We also got their Bo Lo Bun ($1.6) which was honestly one of the worst ones we’ve had in Singapore. Not only was the top layer not crispy, the bun was kinda chewy.

The best Bo Lo Bun in Singapore is still from Legendary Hong Kong.

Even the ones from Champion Bolo, a bolo bun cafe at Tanjong Pagar, was better despite it’s harder biscuit-like crust.

Our verdict

So what’s our review of Leung Sang Hong Kong Pastries?

The Egg Tarts are great — definitely one of the most authentic Hong Kong egg tarts in Singapore. But, they’ll have to work on their bo lo buns.
