Our honest review of Oriental Kopi in Singapore

Lots of you might be wondering if this is comparable to one in Malaysia. In terms of the taste, at least for the dishes we tried, it was just as good. I’d even say that their Bolo Bun here was slightly better, and the coffee was slightly less sweet to accommodate to the Singaporean palate.
Signature dishes at Oriental Kopi
Those who have been to the Oriental Kopi in Johor Bahru will know this. You have to get the following three items: Coffee, Bolo Bun, and Egg Tart.
Sadly, we didn’t get a chance to try the Egg Tarts that day. But, the Bolo Bun and Coffee? They slapped.
The Bolo Bun was light and fluffy, with a nice thin crust on top.
Of course, if you’re planning to satisfy any Hong Kong food cravings, do note that the Bolo Bun at Oriental Kopi has a thinner crust than the usual Cantonese ones. But, the flavour and texture, especially the generous amount of butter, compensates.

Next, the Signature Kopi packed a punch, blending the robust bitterness of Nanyang coffee with the smooth, creamy sweetness of condensed milk.
Food at Oriental Kopi

For mains, we opted for their Penang Char Kway Teow. Smokey, and the perfect texture in my opinion. Every noodle was coated in just enough oil to separate it from one another, without being excessively oily. The two prawns that it was topped with was also elite — so fresh, and the prawn heads were packed with roe.
We also recommend their Signature Nasi Lemak, featuring a giant fried chicken drumstick. Every component, from the rice, to the ikan bilis, and even the sunny side up, was executed perfectly, and came together in one harmonious bite. I especially loved how potent the sambal at Oriental Kopi was.

Oriental Kopi might also be your next go-to breakfast spot, especially if you work in the area. Their Double Butter Kaya Toast is sure to get your day started, with two sinful slabs of butter.
