Alchemist’s motto is “We do the alchemy, you enjoy the coffee.”
That’s absolutely beautiful and befitting for their quaint little coffee store in International Plaza, located two streets from Tanjong Pagar MRT station.
If you’re looking for a quick cup of coffee before your 9-5, this is it.
Our honest review of Alchemist Coffee
Dark Matter house blend
Alchemist’s house blend — Dark Matter — has stolen our hearts with its nutty and chocolatey notes. We’re not huge fans of mocha, but the subtle hint of cocoa added an interesting layer in its taste profile, and gave the coffee a fuller body.
Not sure if it’s a barista issue or a slight change in the blend’s formula, but the iced latte at Alchemist was notably richer a few years ago then it was in the past.
Alchemist’s menu at International Plaza is as follows: White ($5.5), Black ($5), Mocha ($6).
Meanwhile, for caffeinated options, they have Chocolate ($6) and Cascara Tea ($7) in both hot and iced options.
This outlet does not serve food.
Alchemist locations
In addition to their takeaway-only cafe at Tanjong Pagar, Alchemist also has other outlets at Khong Guan Building, The Heeren, Hong Leong Building, 71 Robinson Road, Asia Square, Ocean Financial Centre, Funan, and The Mill.
Notably, the most aesthetics ones are at Khong Guan Building, The Heeren and The Mill.
Lastly, foodies should take note that there are no seats in International Plaza.
Our verdict
So what’s our review of Alchemist Coffee?
The Dark Matter blend used to be way better a few years back. Though without any comparison, I wouldn’t have any complains of their coffee.
