Looking for a place to unwind?

Acoustics Coffee Bar is a refuge along Neil Road, serving coffee, brunch and hearty mains.

Its name is derived from the cafe’s unique acoustics, with specially-designed sound panels to reduce echoes to ensure a tranquil visit.

Start your morning with a simple Breakfast Your Way ($9). It includes a baked good, your choice of eggs, butter and jam.

The bakes are sourdough toast, croissant and pancakes while the eggs can be prepared scrambled, sunny side up or with mayo.

Add-ons, such as Cheesy Sausage ($5), Maple-glaze Bacon ($4) and Hummus ($4) are also available.

Acoustic Coffee Bar also serves savoury croissants such as Brie & Mushroom Croissant ($13) and Confit Tuna Croissant ($13).

Meanwhile, mains are prepared from 11:30am onwards.

The Roasted Chicken Pita Pouch ($14) was generously stuffed. The flavours were mellow compared to traditional Middle Eastern dishes, with just a light seasoning of herbs and garlic, with a coating of melted cheese.

A serving of cucumber raita, a cucumber dish doused in yogurt, and slow-baked tomatoes are served on the side.

The Salmon Lemon Buttercream ($18) was topped with flaky and tender salmon cubes. While there was a good balance of tang and creaminess, the sauce was a little dry.

Both dishes came in relatively small portions.

Coffee at Tanjong Pagar

Espresso-based coffee starts from $3 for a shot of espresso. The white comes in 3oz, 7oz, 10oz and iced which cost $4.5, $5, $5.5 and $6 respectively. Being able to choose the ratio of coffee to milk reminds me of Lucid, a cafe at Lavender.

The menu for coffee includes uncommon items like Spanish ($6.5), coffee spiked with alcohol, and In-Between ($13), which is essentially a Spanish but mellowed out with a scoop of Manuka honey oat ice cream.

Knockhouse Cafe, located at Upper Thomson Road, also serves caffeinated-alcoholic drinks.
