Singapore is a city that takes its coffee seriously, and with so many great local coffee roasters to choose from, it can be tough to know where to start. That’s why we’ve put together a list of the top coffee roasters in Singapore that every coffee enthusiast needs to know about. From the cosy and inviting atmospheres of the cafe, to the carefully selected coffee beans, each roaster on our list has something unique to offer.

So, whether you’re in the mood for a classic espresso, a pour-over, or a creamy latte, here are the best coffee roasters in Singapore to check out.

1. The Community Coffee

If you’ve been drinking speciality coffee, you would’ve definitely heard of this coffee roaster in Chinatown.

The Community Coffee focuses on producing high-quality coffee to the local cafe scene, and you can find them in many cafes such as RIANG, and The Brewing Ground.

The best thing about The Community Coffee is that they rotate their selection once every month. Their current rotation features Ijen Lestari from Indonesia, with a ripe acidity and sugar sweetness, Karora from Rwanda, with , and more. There’s usually about four to five new roasts each month.

Since the coffee is roasted in-house, this brings their cost down drastically to $6.5 for a cup of filter coffee. Anywhere else, the price could be anywhere between $7 to $10, depending on the selection.

2. Acoustics Coffee Bar

Located along Neil Road, Acoustics Coffee Bar is well known for their special acoustics panels that render a peaceful, echo-free ambience.

Their extensive menu offers anything from breakfast to Asian-fusion mains. If you visit on a weekday afternoon, you can even fuel up with their affordable lunch set from $12, with the choice of Breaded Pollock Fish Rice Bowl, and Laksa Roasted Chicken Rice Bowl.

Now, they have always been reliable when it comes to brewing a good cup of coffee. But, their recent venture into coffee roasting has ascended them to the next level. The single origin from Sidamo, their latest choice for an espresso-based coffee, promises notes of orange, jasmine, and milk chocolate. My favourite way to enjoy this is as an iced Long Black ($5), which highlights the contrast between the sharper, fresher citrus notes and the malty chocolatey finish.

3. PPP Coffee

With a strong belief that every coffee tells a unique story, PPP Coffee is recognised as a pioneer in the world of specialty coffee in Singapore.

Through each cup they serve, they aim to connect with their customers and share the passion and dedication that goes into each step of the coffee-making process.

With their extensive selection of beans and brewing methods, you will be able to find a cup of coffee that matches your preferences. Espresso-based coffee starts from $3.8, cold brews from $7.5, and filter coffee from $8. My favourite is the Buf Ubumwe from Rwanda, which is fruity and tart, with a smooth floral finish.

PPP Coffee is available in many cafes in Singapore, but they have their own cafe at Funan.

Dutch Colony Coffee Co has been a beloved coffee roaster in Singapore since 2011.

Known for their exceptional quality beans, Dutch Colony Coffee Co carefully sources and roasts their beans in small batches, ensuring that each cup of coffee is of the highest quality.

Their filter coffee is a must-try. For example, their Koke Shalaye Yirgacheffe ($7) from Ethiopia features a fruity blend of mulberry, blueberry, pineapple, and rose apple. But if you’re looking to spice up your daily caffeine intake, they have a small selection of interesting signature coffee, such as Easy Tonic ($8), which is an espresso mixed with strawberry, yuzu reduction, and tonic water.

Aside from their flagship store near East Coast, Dutch Colony Coffee Co has outlets at Tampines, Kovan, Lorong Chuan, Fusionopolis Mall, and UE Square Mall.
