The best of both worlds~
Nothing beats a 10/10 date idea than cafe-hopping + a DIY activity, and this new cafe on Joo Chiat Road offers both.
Studio Frond is a new botanical matcha bar, where you can design your own takeaway tray with a flower arrangement of your choice from $15.

Of course, you can come in for just a cup of matcha, which we highly recommend.
Like drinking liquid grass (in a good way)
They carry two types of matcha. Frond #1 is from Zhejiang, China. Frond #2 is from Uji, Japan — insanely grassy and umami.

Matcha menu at Studio Frond
- Usucha (from $6.5)
- Matcha Latte (from $7)
- Miso Butterscotch Matcha (from $8.5)
- White Corn Matcha (from $9.5)
As a matcha purist, I recommend staying basic and opting for their Usucha or Matcha Latte because their Frond #2 is just that good.

But, I have to admit that their speciality matcha drinks were worth a try. The White Corn Matcha is light and refreshing, because it’s made with freshly blended corn with no additives.
Meanwhile, the Miso Butterscotch gave it that rich and savoury element that I personally thought was quite unique.
If you’re not a fan of matcha, Iced Pour-overs ($7) and Cold Brew ($6) coffees are also on the menu.
Floral arrangement experience from $15
As they whip up your choice of matcha, you’ll be designing your very own floral arrangement for your takeaway tray

Prices start from $15 for a set, including 1 base, 1 floral and 1 accent, inclusive of the carton tray of course. Additional flowers are $3 each.
The staff will hand you a piece of paper to select your various flowers. Don’t worry if you’re not familiar with the names. You can simply scan the QR code on the bottom left for the visuals.

For a darker, more elegant aesthetic, I recommend the carnations with cappuccino rose. I love the contrast it gives with the vibrant matcha.
Meanwhile, for a softer color scheme, the baby pink hues of the lisanthus and rose lilies are perfect.
The staff will hand you a metal tray with your choice of flowers, and a plier to shorten the stems. If you need any inspirations, you can just look at the premade designs on table.

When we asked Tricia and Hari, the Founders of Studio Frond, what their inspiration behind the concept was, they said that they’ve just always wanted to open up a drinks bar.
Tricia added that she recently got into floral arrangements. Hence, the birth of Studio Frond.
