When it comes to big hotel brands, most people think of them as travel destinations, rather than local staycations. But here are some reasons why I enjoyed my stay at PARKROYAL on Beach Road as a Singaporean looking for a quick getaway.
The Deluxe Club Room

I stayed in the Deluxe Club Room (35sqm), and the space felt just right. There was sufficient room to move around, plus the soft, muted colours and modern furniture gave it a calm and inviting vibe. The warm lighting added an extra touch of coziness that made the room feel instantly relaxing.
The bathroom wasn’t the most spacious, but I appreciated the ledge in the shower. It’s surprisingly useful for storing your essentials… or sitting down to shower if you’re tired (no judgement).
There was also a sofa and coffee table setup, which I found perfect for light work, casual snacking, or just chilling with a show playing in the background.
A new look for the lobby

One thing that genuinely surprised me was the newly refreshed reception area on Level 1. If you’ve been here before, you’ll know the old lobby looked a little dull and uninspiring. The transformation is massive, now it feels bright, modern and aesthetically pleasing, setting a much nicer tone the moment you walk in.
The pool had a glow-up

All the main facilities like the swimming pool, gym, fitness studio and St. Gregory Spa, are located in a separate building connected via a bridge on Level 4.
The pool was newly renovated in June 2025, and the glow-up is real. What used to feel purely functional now looks like a place you’d actually want to chill at. The updated design is prettier, with loungers surrounded by greenery, making it perfect for a relaxing afternoon soak.

Pilates machine in a gym?

For fitness lovers, the gym is a standout. They even had a pilates machine, which honestly shocked me, I’ve never seen that in a hotel gym before. Plus, there’s a body composition analysis machine you can use for free.
Equipment-wise, it has everything you need for a full workout – treadmills, dumbbells, leg extension, leg press, stairmaster, cable machine, smith machine. It pretty much covers everything you’ll need for a great workout session.
A rejuvenating session at St. Gregory Spa

AFtI also booked the Anti-Stress Back Bliss (30 minutes) at St. Gregory Spa, and it was amazing. The therapist was incredibly attentive, she checked in beforehand to understand which areas needed the most work, and she tailored the massage perfectly. The entire experience felt very personalised and soothing. We were also served tea before and after, which was a lovely finishing touch.
Club Level Experience

If you’re staying in a Club Room, you’ll have access to the Club Lounge on Level 7. The refreshments here are relatively simple with coffee, juices, and some light bites. They offer complimentary afternoon tea sets too, which is nice if you want something a little more thoughtful.
Evening cocktails run from 6–8pm, though the selection is limited and not enough for a proper dinner. I’d still recommend heading down to Ginger Restaurant instead.
Dinner at Ginger Restaurant

Ginger was packed when we arrived, and once we started browsing the buffet, it made sense. They were running a “Flavours of Penang” halal-certified buffet, featuring over 40 rotating dishes inspired by hawker culture and Nyonya favourites.
The restaurant rotates themes every now and then, so the menu might look different by the time you visit.
Membership upgrade
One of the most valuable perks right now is the Fast Track to Platinum promotion.
If you book a Club Room for a minimum of 2 nights and complete your stay between 1 December 2025 and 31 March 2026, you get bumped straight to Platinum status under the Pan Pacific DISCOVERY membership for free.
You’re essentially jumping two tiers instantly, without needing to clock any minimum nights or spend. And the perks apply across all brands under the Pan Pacific Hotels Group, including Pan Pacific, PARKROYAL Collection, and PARKROYAL.
Platinum Perks You’ll Actually Use:
- 20% off F&B dining
- 20% off treatments at St. Gregory
- 6% D$ earn rate (basically cashback)
- Late check-out till 3pm (subject to availability)
For frequent staycationers or those who enjoy dining at these hotels, this is genuinely a solid deal.
PARKROYAL on Beach Road may be part of a big hotel group, but my stay reminded me that familiar brands can still surprise you.
