This is not the type of warehouse you have in mind.
If you’ve ever walked along Robertson Quay, you’ve probably seen The Warehouse Hotel, that iconic restored heritage building sitting along the river.
I’ve always been curious about it, so we finally booked a stay. And honestly, it turned out to be a really refreshing little escape in the middle of the city.
Fitting into the whole warehouse theme

The moment you step into the lobby, you can tell they really leaned into the “warehouse” theme with brick walls, concrete tones, high ceilings and exposed fixtures. It’s incredibly photogenic, literally every corner inside and outside could pass off as a photoshoot spot.

The Warehouse Lobby Bar sits right in the middle of everything, and I love that you can choose between proper bar stools or comfy sofa seats if you want a more relaxed vibe.
Their cocktail menu is inspired by different historical eras, which I thought was such a fun touch. Names like Tong Kang Drift, The 36 Oaths and Rusty Nail caught my eye.
How about the rooms?

The Warehouse Hotel offers a few room types, from the standard River View Room to loft-style units and bigger suites, but we stayed in the River View Room on the ground floor. I was a bit worried about privacy at first, but the river isn’t very busy especially on weekdays, so it felt surprisingly peaceful.
The room itself is on the dimmer side to match the industrial theme, which was pretty cosy for relaxing, but maybe not the best setup if you’re planning to work on your laptop.

One thing that caught our eye was their “Minibar of Vices”, which has some… let’s just say, cheeky lifestyle items for purchase.
It was definitely unexpected, but also kind of funny and on-brand for the hotel’s playful side. They also offer a Ginlee tote bag for use during your stay. I loved this because some hotel tote bags can look a bit meh, but this one actually matched my outfits perfectly.
Other amenities at The Warehouse Hotel that impressed us

If you’re a gym person, you might be a little disappointed because there isn’t one here. They do have a small rooftop pool though. It’s not really swimmable if you’re planning laps, but it’s lovely for a quick dip or just chilling with the view. The translucent glass side panel makes it look extra stunning in photos.
Lastly, the food at The Warehouse Hotel…
Dinner at Po was one of the highlights of our stay. The menu pays homage to Nanyang heritage cuisine which is a mix of Chinese, Malay, Indian and Peranakan influences and every dish we tried was solid.

The housemade beancurd with crab meat was so flavourful and silky, soaking up all the broth. The Ikan Kerabu, a raw hamachi salad with ginger flower and plum dressing, was one of my personal favourites, it tasted bright, punchy and super refreshing. We had nothing to complain about.

Breakfast the next morning was a continental selection with free-flow a la carte dishes, so everything is freshly prepared. One thing to note: the portions are pretty generous, which makes it a bit harder to sample multiple dishes unless you’re really hungry. But taste-wise, no complaints there either.
Collaborations with nearby brands
Another perk I really appreciated was their tie-up with Hideaway by The Trapeze Group. Guests get discounted access to the modern bathhouse nearby, which is perfect if you want a proper wind-down session after exploring the area.
